Rhetorically, against whom at this point? Evil Tony and his henchman Igor Duncan have moved on. Carpenter is on the DL. Pujols is two time zones away in a different league. Not even Dusty can summon enough anger to hate the likes of Mike Matheny, Matt Holliday, Adam Wainwright and David Freese. There's as non-controversial as anyone can get.

Re: 4/17 CG

I got to watch the last two innings and it was fun.  I cant believe the heart of the order failed like it did in the 9th.  Carpenter came threw an inning late in the exact same situation.  Pretty awesome.

The team is pretty lucky to have Freese, Carpenter and Jay playing the way they are.

Re: 4/17 CG

I imagine there's still residual anger built up over the years towards the Cardinals organization as a whole. Let's face it, Dusty's had one crowning achievement in the past 10 years and that was a pennant win aided in part by Scott Rolen's shoulder being destroyed. He won two division championships then his teams flamed out spectacularly in the playoffs. The Cardinals have won three pennants and two championships.

I think Dusty really despised La Russa and Duncan as competitors, but the fact that his teams have been embarrassed by the National League's greatest franchise time and time again sticks in his craw. I really have no doubt that part of his motivation for taking the Cincinnati job was to stick it to St. Louis and save for a fluke season, it hasn't happened.

The Angels first baseman hit more home runs in one World Series game than the Reds have playoff victories in the past 21 years.

So did David Freese.

So did Joe Blanton.
