Cubs Trade Byrd to Red Sox

Theo does his old team a solid by moving Byrd, who won't be awful forever, to Boston for fodder Michael Bowden.

If you don't follow the minors too closely, you won't remember that Bowden used to be something of a big deal. He was rated in the lower quarter of BA's Top 100 for a few years, but he's been recently DFA'd, which adds him to this glorious list of Boston draft picks who were set to become immortals but never quite reached that potential:

Andy Marte
Craig Hansen
Kelly Shoppach
Manny Delcarmen
Jed Lowrie
Daniel Bard
Lars Anderson
Josh Reddick
Justin Masterson
Ryan Kalish

Most of these guys were all highly-touted prospects and proof of Theo Epstein being a genius (They did hit on a lot of guys -- Pedroia, Papelbon, Lester, Ellsbury, HanRam, Youkilis, but he was never exactly Branch Rickey).

What does it hurt the Cubs?  They are going to suck no matter what.
