Cubs hadn't homered since the Cardinals home opener.

This fucking douche plays on a 5-12 team, hits a home run to tie (not win) the game and he's pumping his first around the bases like he just won a fucking world series game?

I wonder if Matheny feels the same as his predecessor about balls up and in?

707 more homers, and he passes babe ruth ...

Dear Tyler,

In the show the pitchers throw buckle your knees curveballs, and they throw them for strikes.

shane robinson 'looks fast.'

On the St. Louis feed, Dan just told us that Pujols was 0 for 4 and went homerless.

Terrible tag by Greene, but considering the runner didn't touch 2nd until his knee got to the base, that was pathetic.

the call in the first inning was worse than the call in the 10th

I now fully hate Tyler Greene.  I was hoping that he would punch the Ump in the face and kill two birds with one stone.  I dont care if Skip has to stand at second and pretend to know what he is doing again.  Greene has got to go.

Re: 4/24 GC

the guy behind the plate last night was apparently one of those vacation fill-in umps. gotta love the way the unions dominate baseball. in what other line of work would you get paid for 5-6 weeks of 'training' in arizona or florida, work for a couple of weeks, and then get time off for a vacation?

Teachers got a pretty sweet deal.

they do, but i give teachers a little more leeway because i can't imagine trying to deal with 25 kids at once.
at the same time, one of my son's teachers called in sick monday and tuesday. i guess he has to have a little more time to get back into it after nine days off for april vacation.

Yeah they work 9 months a year and basicly make the salary of people who work 12 months.  They get sick, vacation, personal time and an awesome retirement.  They are off every major holliday and a couple extended breaks a year.  Plus with their 3 months off they can hold down a part time summer job pretty easy.  Not to mention something most people take for granted, 8-4 work days and weekends off.

Re: 4/24 GC

Painful as it is to lose to the Cubs , two days in a row , especially the second one with 2 big blown calls , the Cards have to pick up their offensive performance so that calls like that aren't nearly as critical and costly ..

...and then there's Greene .

good point, don. if they don't leave the bases loaded in the 9th, no one is talking about umpires.

i get along with my son's teachers because it's in his best interests, so i kind of save my complaints for administration.
in addition to all the time off you've cited, our district will spring half days and 'professional in-service days' that the kids have off in the middle of the week. so either my wife or i has to take a day off. you should have seen the look on my son's principal's face when i made the outrageous suggestion the teachers ought to have their in-service training after school, or - perish the thought - they could come in on saturdays like the rest of the world when they need extra time to get stuff done.

Re: 4/24 GC

I like teacher in general but in high school I had a teacher that used his classroom a couple times as a platform to speak about how undervauled teacher are.  To this day I can stand much of that talk.
