I would have batted Greene 9th.

I would've batted him leadoff.
On the Memphis roster.
See what I did there?

And Bedard is pissing me off.

this is a bad, bad baseball team.

We're 45 minutes in and have played 1.5 innings.

holliday can play baseball for another 100 years and he won't see a better pitch to hit than that 3-1.

That was a Mark Mulder/Jeff Weaver-esque inning where the pitcher has nothing and you have a sinking feeling that he's about to run out of luck.

30 minutes of which have consisted of erik bedard lally-gagging.

Pittsburgh is going to get their chance to win because of the minor leaguers at the bottom of this lineup. Without looking it up I think six of his eight strikeouts are against them.
Offline
OK, eight of his nine strikeouts have been against position players. Furcal, Holliday and Craig have three; Robinson, Greene and Cruz have five. Unacceptable.
Offline
Well, at least they can't complain about the shadows.

I just felt that home run coming. Westbrook is nibbling around and that usually leads to bad things. And Alvarez has killed them so far.
Offline
My goodness, the bottom of this lineup is just so, so bad.
Offline
Uh oh, here comes a Hollidoubleplay.

i've had a bad feeling about this one since they left the bases loaded in the second inning. they let bedard dictate the pace of the game, and let the pirates peck away offensively.

Yeah I didn't feel good about it either, but I usually don't when they have a chance to sweep. This team has left a lot of wins on the field. And the feast or famine is annoying.

horton went on a spiel last inning about how matheny has a one game at a time mentality instead of a series mentality like larussa, but it sure seems like he takes the foot off the gas sometimes. off the top of my head, i think this is the third time they've lost the third game of a series after winning the first two.
edit: fourth - both cincinnati series, and both series on this homestand
