What, no Anthony Reyes?Click the link ...
How many nights do you think Leyland has sat at a bar, smoking a pack of cigarettes and drinking scotch and wondered how in the fuck his team lost Game 1 of the World Series to ole flatbill?
More than, but not significantly, the number of times LaRussa has done the same thing - without the smokes - wondering how Reyes could throw a 1-hitter and still lose to the White Sox.

Wow, Molina has a dozen doubles

Suppan went 5 innings and allowed one run. Currently in line for the win.
He was throwing an 85-87 mph fastball, a change at about 77 and a 68 mph curve. Carlos Gonzalez swung so hard at a changeup I think he went around twice.
He also dropped down a perfect bunt to move the go-ahead run into scoring position. How can you not root for the guy?

Did you get home in time to see the pitch that hit him in the hand?

I know. I have not been able to watch him yet but I plan on catching one of his starts soon if I can. However 91 pitches in 5 innings does remind of why Suppan starts drug on.

nope or I dont think so. I hadnt turned the game on a that time anyway. By the time I get changed, take a shower if needed and take the dog out I got to have few to put me in sleep mode. I was looking forward to finishing off the night with baseball but the Cards made quick work of it tonight. Or at least Beltran did but that is a good thing.

This road trip is stupid. The Cards are in AZ right now. Then they go to ATL. Then they go North to CHC. Then back West to play two games against SFG and LAD before returning home to play SDP.

Actually we come home to play Atlanta and Chicago, then return West.

It is odd how much they've been on the road. After today they'll have played 19 on the road versus 12 at home, then after the West Coast trip, it'll be 25 on the road versus 17 at home.
I haven't looked that deep into the schedule yet, but maybe it's a good thing they'll have played 1/3 of their road games in two months.

If they keep winning it is a great thing. It has to be to there advantage to play more games at home later in the season.

I think it seems more uneven than it really is because we started the season on the road and are now ending a road trip. When they leave for the coast, they will have played 17 at home versus 19 on the road. After the subsequent home stand it will be 24 home and 25 road.
ETA- For some reason, June is filled with long road trips/home stands. They have a 10 game road trip from May 28 thru June 7, followed by a 9 game home stand June 8 thru June 17. Then a 9 game road trip from June 19 thru June 27, followed by a 10 game home stand from June 29 thru July 8. That seems a bit odd.

The front-loading of the divisional games also creates an interesting dynamic. They have only eight divisional games from May 7 until the All-Star break. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. And they kind of catch a bad break with the interleague matchups. The only ALC team they don't play is the Twins. The Twins suck.

We get the Royals twice again this season. Always possible the Royals wake up (I think they're better than they've performed), but right now, they're almost as bad as Minnesota.
ETA: Cincinnati gets Cleveland twice along with Detroit and Minnesota. The Brewers get the real soft interleague schedule. They get Minnesota twice, Kansas City and don't play either Cleveland or Detroit.

More worried about the Reds. The Brewers have lost some personnel - they're playing Cesar Izturis at shortstop, for fuck's sake - and their starting pitching has been spotty.
I'm not sold on Cleveland yet. Jason Kipnis was one of my all-time favorite Sun Devils, but there's no way he ought to be leading a major league baseball team in home runs and RBI. And it's a matter of time before Derek Lowe reverts to his mediocre self.

I'm probably beating an ant with a sledgehammer here, but it's nice to know there are other people out there with time on their hands to think about meaningless shit like this:

Aye. The Reds and Brewers are locked in a pretty good pitchers battle so far today. Greinke v. Cueto. Scoreless thru 5.

I would like to see this team 10 games over .500 sometime soon.

Still scoreless through eight. Cueto pitched seven and then was lifted. No pinch-hitter with a runner on base. He just apparently reached his pitch limit. Greinke lasted eight. Again, no pinch-hitter in a run scoring situation. He was just replaced.
Can you imagine trying to tell Carpenter he's coming out of a 0-0 game? Or Gibson?

Nathan Axford Forrest just coughed up 2 runs in the 9th.

I don't know who the Cubs' radio announcers are, but there was this exchange I heard on the way home:
Play-by-play guy: "And the Reds hold off the Brewers, 2-1, despite a home run by Ryan Braun in the bottom of the ninth ..."
Color guy: "Sounds like that was a solo homer by Braun."

Isn't this the same manager who let his pitcher hit in the top of the sixth inning with the bases loaded and two outs. Yeah, I'm not really surprised.
