Halloween thread

Best costume (adult): My son's well-endowed, 20-something teacher in a Dorothy Gale getup.
Worst costume (adult): The bus driver who wore the Wolfman mask. Maybe I'm the cautious type, but I wouldn't want my child riding in a vehicle with the guy behind the wheel wearing a full-on, furry head covering that limits his peripheral vision.
Best costume (youth): I'm not sure what motif this kid was going for, but he looked almost exactly like the bureaucrat in Life of Brian who gets stoned to death for saying "Jehovah" too many times telling people they can't say "Jehovah."
Worst costume(s) (youth): The entire sixth grade female population dressed up as yellow jackets.
Me: "What's up with those costumes?"
Son: "They're all dressed as bees."
Me: "Thanks. I thought Blind Melon might have been in town this weekend."
Son: "What's a Blind Melon?"
Me: "They were a band with a video ... forget it."

Reminds me of a classmate from community college who was engaged.  She told me she had landed her fiance at a Halloween party where her "pirate" costume involved wearing a camisole with no bra, and I guess that finally caught his attention.

Other famous college-aged costumes to go along with slutty pirate (in camisole): slutty nurse (in camisole), Catwoman (in body suit), Devil (in bodysuit) . . .

Anyone but you.  You're my favorite.

Seriously, I had no idea.  I assume from what TK wrote that it's Judy Garland character?

Aye. I don't know if she's ever referred to by her last name in the movie.

Re: Halloween thread

I don't think she is. Also, I can't watch the movie without thinking of a particular "Family Guy" joke:

WIZARD: And Dorothy, you wanted herpes, but little did you know that you had them all along.

DOROTHY: I didn't want herpes!

WIZARD: Oh. Well...you have them now.

Ouch.

I enjoyed it when I was younger, but then around eight or nine I realized it was kinda foofy to watch musicals. I think I got hooked on Madden that year.

"Color me" foofy.  I could watch Brigadoon and Singing in the Rain once a week.

My two favorite Family Guy moments are the Ipecac chugging contest and when Stewie tells Matthew McConaughey he sucks donkey ass.

Re: Halloween thread

I prefer Two and a Half Men.  That Charlie Sheen is quite an actor.  Who knew he'd be able to pull of the part of a drunk womanizer who can't stay out of trouble?

That one is on TBS right now.

There's also a good gag where Stewie directs a pilot carrying McConaughey to make an emergency landing in the ocean.

Denise Richards was on Howard Stern last week and I'm pretty sure their kids are going to be screwed up. Their dad is addicted to hookers and their mom isn't far off from being described as a "raging slut."

I had never watched that show until they showed it on the plane going out to Chicago last weekend. Safe to assume I haven't looked for it on the dial since.

Once in Jakarta friends of friends came to stay for a week and the woman was so traumatized by culture shock that she stayed in our bedroom and watched Sound of Music round the clock for a week.

But, I too came around on musicals, after having first been turned off of them like TK by their goofiness, when I started listening to music that might be called jazz and I discovered that about 90% of what people think of as jazz standards are actually showtunes from shows that people have forgotten about.  How many people still watch "The Gay Divorcee"?  But you get to a certain age and you are pretty certain to know the tune, "Night and Day".
