Re: 5/22 Gamecrap

Sideshow Bob is wearing his cap crooked. Is it too much to ask a major league baseball player to look like a major league baseball player, and not a high school kid?

I don't know if Waino is pitching better tonight or the Padres are missing some cookies.

I'm impressed by Maybin's defense.

I like the idea that Schnuck's time stamps its ground beef. It's important to know whether you're getting a.m. beef or p.m. beef.

High tag. Good call. One not a lot of umpires would make.
But what the hell was Descalso thinking?

Very. And the third baseman has made a couple of nice plays.

Re: 5/22 Gamecrap

Great job by Volquez against Adams. He would've crushed that fastball so he kept throwing change ups.

Re: 5/22 Gamecrap

If Krispy Kreme's "deal" is a dozen donuts for $3.99, what's the regular price? I think you can get a dozen at Dunky Donits for five bucks. And Dunk's are better.

Re: 5/22 Gamecrap

I've never seen a pitcher embarrass his catcher like that. At least at a level above Little League. You can tell Sideshow has served time under Dusty.

At the gas station where they sell them in my area they run about $7

That's a lot of dough.
(I didn't set that up. Seriously.)

I don't know if Jerry Layne missed a ball/strike call tonight. Nice job.

Good to set Waino put up a doughnut, but I'll withhold some of my enthusiasm until he dominates a major league team instead of a quadruple-A lineup.

Eh. The Giants weren't that much better last week and he was as bad as I've ever seen him. I'm not ready to declare that he's back just yet, but this was the best he's looked since that start against the Cubs. I didn't see him nibbling tonight.

Re: 5/22 Gamecrap

Not sure if anyone else caught his post game interview, but Wainwright was choking back tears. Good for him, AAA lineup or not.

Yes indeed.

Suppan goes tomorrow, which means trouble because it seems like Suppan always gives them fits. I hope they beat him tomorrow, but man do I love that guy. Not just because of 2006, but because he was a ridiculously tough pitcher that overcame his mediocre stuff. Very likable guy.

Good for WainO.  I see Adams took two walk.  That is good two.

For the most part, his two-seamer - the pitch that's been getting creamed - was decent. There were a couple of mistakes that got hit hard (most notably the one to Sideshow), and he left a few more pitches up that didn't get hit hard, but you're right. I think he only walked one guy, and that was either in the eighth or ninth inning.

Re: 5/22 Gamecrap

"I see Adams took two walk.  That is good two."

Based on the admittedly small sample size I've seen so far, he could still use a little more plate discipline. He's swung at more pitches out of the strike zone in three games than Berkman would in four weeks. I think last night's walks were because the Padres preferred to pitch to someone else.
I think it was Monday night when he grounded out on a ball that he hit off the top of his shoe, and then Cashner struck him out with a pitch that was up around his shoulders.
Again, small sample size, but I'd kind of hoped for a little more than two singles and two walks so far.

Based on his 9 walks in 152 plate appearances this season and his 40 walks in 513 plate appearances in 2011, I would tend to agree with you.
