Does Tim Hudson have compromising photos of Matheny or something?
Offline
Nah, if he did we'd see Cruz, Chambers, Steven Hill, and Chuckie Fick on the mound ....
Offline
Lohse is not foolin' 'em much ......

So is Hudson gonna toss a no-hitter against us ?

Infuriating.

OK, if you're going to use a shift, pitch to the shift. McCann hits an outside pitch for what would have been a routine ground ball to the shortstop and instead it's a 2-run single.

And I've always hated this stupid chant. Really. The Braves need to get rid of it.

Thanks Motte . One of these days the Cardinals are gonna have a real bullpen ...

Jenifer Langosch†@LangoschMLB
Skip Schumaker did not sound optimistic about staying off disabled list. Believes he pulled his right hamstring, not just strain.

You could make a pretty decent team off of what is on the DL.

Injuries are going to be blamed, but in May, the Cardinals got 67 innings out of Lohse and Westbrook (33.2 IP for Lohse, 33.1 IP for Westbrook). They combined to put up a 5.50 ERA. They started 12 of the 30 games and the Cardinals won just three of them. Garcia was inconsistent and Wainwright and Lynn held the fort down, but until the rotation starts going out there and doing more of what Wainwright and Lynn did on Sunday and Monday, it matters none who pitches in the bullpen.

"Injuries are going to be blamed"
It's a bullshit excuse. The team the Cardinals just played was without its 3-4-5 hitters for a week. The Dodgers swept them without the best player in the National League in the lineup. The Giants didn't have their best hitter when the Cardinals were in San Francisco. The Phillies' right side of their infield hasn't played an inning all season.
Your observation that the starting pitching is the cause of the Cardinals' recent slide is spot on. No one expected the Lohse and Westbrook we saw in April to keep pitching that way the entire season. But they can't go out there and cough up four runs in the first three innings and three runs in the first inning like they did in this series.

Loshe sucked last night but the bullpen lost the game.
