6/1 GC

This should be interesting.  After missing Wednesday's game because of his knee, Beltran will play center field tonight and Craig, coming off the DL will start in right field. Hopefully there isn't a limit to the number of players you can have on the DL at any point in time.

1. Rafael Furcal, SS

2. Carlos Beltran, CF

3. Matt Holliday, LF

4. Allen Craig, RF

5. David Freese, 3B

6. Yadier Molina, C

7. Matt Adams, 1B

8. Tyler Greene, 2B

9. Adam Wainwright, P

Also, it looks like Garcia will miss his next scheduled start.

Re: 6/1 GC

Today was supposed to be his start, correct?  So he will miss one more?

Never mind I looked it up.  I agree with the post artical that Dickerson should have remained on the team.  No long arm in the bullpen or option for a spot start is stupid.   Sounds like Jays situation isnt improving as quickly as hoped.

I thought Mabry was already in the dugout.  I guess the assistant hitting coach isnt in the dugout?

"Pitching coach Derek Lilliquist has returned to Florida this weekend for the high school graduation of his son. John Mabry will put on his uniform and join the team in the dugout as a result. Matheny said he will handle many of the duties usually done by the pitching coach. He expects to make all of the trips to the mound."

Re: 6/1 GC

Alittle hindsight but wouldnt it have been smarter to sit Adams against one of the best lefties in baseball and start Craig and Beltran in positions that fit there injury situation (craig 1st, beltran, rf).

Re: 6/1 GC

It sounds like Wainwright is getting hit hard here in the 4th.

NO HITTER ALERT.

Re: 6/1 GC

How do you miss that call? Really. It's 15 feet in front of you. You have almost nothing else to do at third base.

Re: 6/1 GC

Tonight's game may be the only baseball in this series. It's supposed to rain tonight through at least Tuesday here. I can't imagine the outlook in NYC is much better.

Beltran took the scenic route to Wright's fly ball. It was a tough chance, but Andy Van Slyke would have made the catch.

I think this has to do with my earlier thread...Maybe the umps just suck.

Jay, Skip, Robinson or Chambers would have made he catch to.  The Cards have no business putting an outfield of Craig, Beltran and Holliday out there.  that might be one of the worst outfields in the league.

The tough break came on Furcal's grounder.

Re: 6/1 GC

Bogus no-hitter or not, that was a good grab by Baxter.

We'll never know exactly, but I'd like to find out what he said to Oquendo and Matheny. It certainly wasn't "I missed it." It looked like he was trying to defend an indefensible call.

Re: 6/1 GC

The only two things worse than getting no-hit by the Mets would be getting no-hit by the Cubs or Johnny Cueto.

They should have pulled a tennis move and pointed to the chalk line.

Then the plate ump misses Shano getting hit by a pitch. Ridiculous.

Missed the game. Spent the last hour and a half trying to fill Bob's stomach. AP, any chance you can kill a couple extra bears?  I'm going to need an extra ton of meat to get through the summer.

"Missed the game."

There was nothing to miss. Literally.

Re: 6/1 GC

Heard them discussing the missed fair/foul call. Said there was a half circle in the chalk line. If I'm Oquendo, every inning when I take the field I walk over, look at the mark and wonder out loud how a foul ball could cause that mark. At least that's what I'd do until I was tossed.

Re: 6/1 GC

Ugh. I'm glad I stopped watching.

Oh, Terry Collins should look up a guy named Bud Smith. I know there was history at stake and all that, but the Mets are paying Santana $49 million over the next two years at least. Unless his shoulder is now bionic after rotator cuff surgery, I wouldn't be surprised if tonight is the beginning of the end. Maybe it won't show up next week or two weeks from now or a month from now, but there's a good chance his arm won't be the same ever again.

Re: 6/1 GC

Oh yeah, the Cardinals have lost 14 of 21. When they left Arizona on May 9 they were 20-11 and 3.5 games up. They've given up 113 runs since then.

Feed him carbs.  Something that swells up inside of you.

IDK if Oquendo noticed the chalk mark because he never pointed it out.

Re: 6/1 GC

Speaking og Van Slyke, he would prode last night.

I think Santana looked pretty awesome last night or the Cardinals looed that bad.  He is a lefty.  I doubt he drops of the face of the earth like Bud Smith.  Wasnt there another no name cardinal that threw a no hitting a few weeks after Smith?
