Chris Perez

I thought it was a mistake at the time and thought that Motte should have went instead.  The main reason Perez got the boot was because he didnt fit directly into the TLR/Duncan mold.

Re: Chris Perez

My memory is failing me. Did the Cardinals offer Perez or Motte, and the Indians took Perez? Is that the way it went down?

Re: Chris Perez

I think the Indians were willing to take either Perez or Motte and the Cardinals decided to keep Motte over Perez.

But I don't know that the Cardinals necessarily made a mistake by trading Perez instead of Motte.  Perez has more saves because he's had more opportunities, but otherwise, their numbers are very similar and in many respects Motte's numbers are better.

Re: Chris Perez

I believe Duncan liked Motte better.

Re: Chris Perez

Perez has gotten more opportunities because he was a finished product when traded.  Motte still isnt a pitcher.

I remember liking Perez when they picked him (but not as much as Jay), and then being a little disappointed when he had some control issues when he arrived in the majors. He seemed to me to be a little bit overwhelmed.

We'll have to agree to disagree AP. Motte's secondary pitch is better than you give it credit for. Otherwise he wouldnt strike out a batter an inning and opponents wouldn't be hitting below .200 against him.

I fear that Motte is going to turn into a pumkin.
