If Wainwright has good command tonight he's going to shred this lineup.

The only baseball skill Adam Kingman has left is the ability to hit a belt-high pitch 450 feet and Scrabble serves him one.
The Cardinals' bullpen is awful. Just awful.

I don't think they're underachieving as much as they were overrated. And I don't care what Hrabosky says, I've about had it with Beltran's lallygagging. I know his offense has been great, but he's cost the Cardinals nearly half the runs he's driven in with his lackadasical defense. And he's not alone. Defensively, this might be the worst Cardinals' team I've ever seen. Except for catcher, everyone in the lineup tonight has been a below average defensive player this year.

I think last season they were way worse defensively, but I see what you're saying.
The bullpen really is a big bag of suck.

Beltran's nonchalant "coasting" , "gliding" , to the ball to make his "cool" 1 handed catches has irritated me from day 1 . and he dropped one a few games back trying to be Mr. Smooth ... If he's hurt get the hell off the field ...
I'll give him a pass at the plate however (for the time being anyway)

Before the Theriot trade, maybe. But Furcal hasn't been as good this year as he was last year. The corner outfield defense is worse. Freese is about the same, which is below average. Second base is below average, unless Descalso is in there. First base is a lot worse, especially since Berkman went down. Adams is bad, and Craig is worse.
After Carpenter, the player they've missed the most is Jon Jay. Seriously. He covers the balls the two statues on either side of him can't or won't get to in the gaps, and he's obviously a much better hitter than Slappy Robinson and Chambers, whose role ought to be limited to a late inning pinch-runner on an expanded September roster.

You know what else pisses me off? Two days ago, I bought a pint of Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter ice cream. Because I like Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter ice cream. Now I'm not a complete jerk. I also bought a pint of Peppermint Stick, because that's what my wife and son usually like. To me, Peppermint Stick smells like pine tar, so I won't eat it. I had to work really late last night, so I went straight to bed without getting to eat any of my Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter. So I've been looking forward to it all day. About a half hour ago, I go into the freezer and there's like half a spoonful of Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter ice cream left. The Peppermint Stick container is still in there though, as yet unopened. So I ask my wife "How come there's only half a spoonful of Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter left?" She says "Zach and I wanted something different last night." So now here I am, pissed off about the Cardinals and even more pissed off that my Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter ice cream might as well be gone. In fact, I think I would have been less upset if they had eaten the entire contents and chucked the container in the trash. Leaving half a spoonful is almost like taunting me.

I hate him alot. He stinks, sucks and blows all at the same time. How hard is it to see that the Cardinals need left handed pitching out of the pen? WTF is Rhodes doing? At this point I dont care, Flores, Johnson or Miller can come back. Fuck, Artie you still able to throw? It has reached that point.

Beltran's kness must be about shit. As for the defensive comment, I think you are forgeting Theriot and Skip combo up the middle.
How in the hell did this team get 11 hits and only one run. Do they owe money to someone?

So Strauss says jay isnt close. Wouldnt it make sence for the Cardinals to pick up Marlon Byrd who has been released by the Red Soxs?
Even though Greene had 2 hits tonight he still sucks.

Alas, 60-day DL for me. I could be ready for spring training in 2013.

On the plus side, they achieved the qualifier for the donut discount at Krispy Kreme.

I know we joke about this, but what goes on with the Cardinals' medical staff? If I recall correctly, they initially didn't want to put him on the DL because they thought he could fight his way through whatever discomfort he was having in less than 15 days. Then he comes back, and he ends up on the DL for how long now? Four weeks? Five? And it's not just Jay. It seems like every Cardinals' injury ends up being worse than the original prognosis.

I wonder if the underachieving in the bullpen isn't due to the fact that Matheny and Lilliquist aren't capable enough to coach them up. Not even as a starter in the AL East was Rzepczynski this bad.
