How much are Marlins paying for how long of Heath Bell?

2.5 more years and still about $18 million.

That all?  For some reason I thought they gave him more money.

Still, a lot of money for a closer with an ERA over 6.00

You thinking the Cards could swing a trade to get him as a cheap upgrade? Maybe dump that overrated catcher in exchange.

I'm surprised Davidson isn't just throwing up his right hand to get this over with.

Yeah, he's probably headed to Mango's right after the game for the midnight booty contest.
Davidson worked the plate yesterday for about six innings after Layne got hit in the head with a broken bat. I don't know how that's relevant or why I thought of it.

Re: 6/25 GC @ Marlins

Completely off topic, but anyone else ever watch the show American Ninja Warrior?  My kids love the show which is a ridiculous obstacle course largely designed for gymnast sized people. Kamerion Wimbley, the Titans DE just completed the semi-final course. Watching a guy that size do these stunts is pretty darn impressive.

If the Marlins pick up Bell's salary, I'd take him in exchange for Bryan Anderson.

Prescient. Matheny just got out smarted by Ozzie Guillen.  And it cost us Allen Craig.

Re: 6/25 GC @ Marlins

So wait, both Craig AND Freese are out of the game now?!

Yeah - that overrated catcher. Good stop! Seriously, what's happened to Sanchez?

Yeah, and it's pretty entertaining.
Wimbley was a Raiders' salary cap casualty. So they go through next season without a linebacker that can tackle. But Terrelle Pryor is their 3rd string QB. So they've got that going for them. Which is nice.

Re: 6/25 GC @ Marlins

It'd be nice to have some insurance runs, for obvious reasons.

If the Cardinals lose, then that botched double-switch is going to really come back and haunt them.

Not feeling good about this.

Re: 6/25 GC @ Marlins

Me either. Motte threw pitches that would have been strikes in the odd numbered innings.

Pryor was signed to take over the JeMarcus Russell role.

All in all, it's been a while since the Cards won a game they should have lost.

The Marlins broadcasters suggested Davidson may have been the one who screwed up.
