Joe Kelly goes for the sweep. Anibal Sanchez opposing. I won't be able to watch this one, but if the Cardinals win they're one game of TTTIB.
Also, Cubs fans are being very Cubs-like in their over-the-top love for Anthony Rizzo.

Kelly keeping his fastball down. His secondary pitches are all over the place, but so far that's working in his favor.

There's already a petition drive underway to place a statue of him outside Wrigley Field.

Matheny had Marte up, sat him down in favor of Salas . Well we saw what Salas can do , then brings in Freeman , Marte still warming . Freeman bombs . Marte gets the out and is back out there . Hope he holds .....Stanton is a tough dude ...

Freeman's been put in a tough spot. He should be in the minors learning how to pitch. Instead, he's in the majors trying not to get killed. There's some potential there, and I hope they haven't screwed him up by rushing him.
Strategic moves aside, the primary difference between La Russa and Matheny so far is Freeman's presence on the team. J.C. Romero would have lasted a little longer, and that ship still would have sunk for sure, but La Russa would have pouted and threatened to hold his breath until Moz added another veteran lefty to replace him.

I don't think they should sent out Marte for a second inning ever again. He's most effective as a cleaner. You try to squeeze more than that out of him, you're asking for trouble.
He's a plus-size Kiko Colero.

I hear there's space next to the Mark Prior statue.

IDK if the lefty should be a veteran or not but this team doesnt have a lefty on the roster that is worth a shit. If Mo isnt looking something is wrong.

If I was the Cardinals GM there are one guy that would have crossed my mind today. Will Ohman has been DFA and has been pretty good against lefties holding them to a .182 average.

From what I've read, the CW has been that LaHair would hold Rizzo's place until Rizzo is ready, and then the Cubs would trade LaHair to, say, Los Angeles for Kershaw, Kemp and the rights to the parking at Dodger Stadium. We probably overrate LaHair a bit because half of his home runs this year have come against the Cardinals. He and Cy Norris out to start a consulting firm on how to beat the St. Louis Cardinals.

LaHair's career path screams "Ryan Ludwick." If the Cubs can move him for something of value while his stock it high, they would be wise to do so.

I didnt really think of it like that. Ludwick had his value to the Cardinals and I wouldnt have traded him in his prime year ot two with the Cardinals. However if the Cardinals were only going to win 50 games a year durring his span with the team my opinion would have changed.
