Re: 7/15 @ Reds

It is so dry here.  We have got a couple rains but nothing that has helped.  The cracks in the yard could swallow one of your kids.  Trees are loosing leaves and I havent actually mowed the yard in a month.  I drove around once and knocked down the weeds.  The grass is brown and crunches when you walk acrossed it.  My garden is dead and I have to water my newly planted trees twice a week.  Same thing with the flowers.  Field corn is tasseling and some of it is only chest high.  Beans are under shin level in alot of fields.  Food prices are going to sky rocket.  I break out in a full out sweat just looking out the window.  I am pretty sure the amount of heat within my body while in my vest is damaging organs.  Summer is awesome.

Re: 7/15 @ Reds

"Instead of chasing warm climate weather when I retire I am moving north."

I don't know how far north you want to go, but one of my friends moved to Chicago two years ago and he said winters there are unbearable. Around late October, the sky gets gray and the wind makes it bitterly cold. He says they don't get as many big storms as we do, but it snows an inch or two every day. I couldn't handle that. I'd get too depressed.
Up here, we get these storms called Nor'easters that come up the coast and bury us with a couple feet of snow a few times every winter. Apparently, whenever one of these storms is even mentioned in the weather forecast, it's essential to go to a supermarket and buy enough milk and bread to last until the next Ice Age ends.

"Friday evening, Madison had a softball game.  There was a huge dark cloud overhead and during the game it got windy and the temperature dropped at least 10-15 degrees.  You just knew it was about to storm, but then nothing happened."

I'm sure an abrupt end to one of those walk-a-thons would have been disappointing for you.

Season's over.  I'm so upset.

Soccer season right around the bend?
Watching pre-teen girls play soccer is a form of punishment in some third world countries.

She passed on soccer and is trying volleyball.

At the end of the day, I think Madison is headed for cheerleading.  She did gymnastics for a couple of years and still does tumbling.  Right now cheerleading starts in 6th grade, but there's talk of expanding it down to 5th grade since there's now a 5th grade football team.  Madison will be in 4th grade this coming year, so if the 5th grade starts as planned, it would work perfect for her.

Re: 7/15 @ Reds

Did everyone catch that the Cardinals called up Rosenthal and set Cleto back to Memphis where he belongs? I like the move as I think Rosenthal is going to be better than everyone but Motte and Boggs. If they can just figure out a way to get rid of Marte (acquiring a starter and sending Kelly to the bullpen?) they should be in fine shape.

Finally, this didn't get discussed during that abortion of a game on Saturday, but was anyone else ready to throw something through their window when Jay failed to get a bunt down on strikes 1 and 2 and Matheny didn't call it off on 0-2? If there's any spot that shows just how over his head he is, I think that's it.
