The - * - Express tries to derail the Glove Smellers, who are seeking their fifth straight win.
Two teams with 4-4 records, APRTW and Go 4 Broken, battle each other to stay above .500. Given AP's track record, look for Go 4 Broken to put up its highest point total of the year.
If Hollywood 69 and the Athol Marauders don't settle the score on the field, the tiebreaker will be who has the most stylish mullet.
Alz has the bye week.

File under: "shit I don't know about Fantasy Football"
. . . and for the second week in a row Fors has snatched away a player from me by outbidding me. Are these bids visible, or did he get lucky twice? If the former, can I up my bid and get in a bidding war?

I had no idea you had bid on the players. I just cast my bid a bit on the high side in case someone else was interested. Guess I was right.

This should be re-titled "Week 9 Gamecrap - Raiders Resurgence" ESPN's idea. Not mine.

Winning two games in a row for the first time in three years qualifies as a "resurgence?"
ESPN's standards are lower than I thought.

Hello,
Sorry, but the waiver request you made in St. Louis Cardinals Fans has been denied.
Player Dropped: Cutler, Jay
Player Added : Tamme, Jacob
This happened for the following reason:
There was another manager who outbid you for this player.

You're bitching about not getting a player you won't be able to use until no sooner than mid-December?

mostly i was bitching about not getting a tight end who can play this week, as BOTH of mine have a bye this week. (furious)

Campbell to start again at QB for Raiders
ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP)—Coach Tom Cable says Jason Campbell(notes) will make his fourth straight start at quarterback this week for the Oakland Raiders.
Cable said Thursday that Bruce Gradkowski(notes) is still not fully recovered from a separated right shoulder. Campbell has led Oakland to wins the past two weeks, helping the Raiders put together consecutive 500-yard offensive performances for the first time in franchise history.
Tight end Zach Miller did not practice because of a sore foot, but Cable expects him to be able to play Sunday against Kansas City. Pro Bowl cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha(notes) did not practice because of a sprained right ankle and his status is in doubt.

Sorry, that's the same reason I picked him up. Well, that and the fact that Peyton Manning throws about 10 passes a game to his tight end.

If Daniels is healthy, he's not a bad option this week. There are a couple of other guys out there who are at least serviceable.

In the interest of fairness, and since I outbid Max in back-to-back weeks, perhaps we can work out a trade
Britt for Moss seems fair

I'm not sure which made me gag more--noticing that I had become Kerry Robinson or seeing that Artie had become Tino Martinez.

I don't expect Asomugha to play this week. The Raiders have the bye after K.C. and they can give him two solid weeks off before they have to go to Pissburgh.

Funny story, but I dreamed this morning that the Raiders beat KC in overtime on a pick six. I don't know why I had this dream, though.

Thanks for the tip, but I already have him. I rushed to grab him after getting the bad news about the guy from Indianapolis.

Artie has move from the best bench players to the worst regulars.

That might almost square the account for the James Hasty Heist in 1992. Another grudge I hold against the NFL.

I know. I looked at your roster. What I meant is if you don't want to play Daniels, or if he's inactive, you have a couple of options among FA tight ends. Not great options, but options nonetheless.

I have two pretty good tight ends in vernon davis and Marcedes Lewis, but both have a bye. but thought I had a great break when i read that the colts' TE had gone down and his back up, Tamme, had had a really good game. so i put a bid that i thought would get him . . . i think i bid $6. Fors must have outbid me. i don't see anyway to tell how much he bid, but it was the second week in a row that he got a guy i was going after. i thought he must be able to see my bid somehow. So, anyhoo, I'll make do with my third TE, Daniels, for one week, and then limp along with davis and lewis after that.
Actually, after 8 weeks, i'm finally starting to get the core of a decent team (except for wide receivers, which seems like kind of a grab bag from week to week). But there's another funny thing, which AP alluded to, that the PA are quite varied. I have had the most points scored against me: more than 130 more than you have had scored against you, or 14+ ppg. Part of that is because I've never played a low-scoring, shitty team, like my own, but another part is luck, as evidenced by the fact that AP has the highest scoring team, but also second highest PA. The only solution I can see is to greatly increase the sample size, to say, 1000 games per season, and then we'll see how truly has the better team.

If Todd Haley wasn't coaching the Chiefs, Jamaal Charles would be the No. 1 fantasy running back in 2010.

And you've captured the essence of head-to-head fantasy football. I used to get really annoyed when I'd put up the second-most points in my league and still lose, but after awhile you just sort of learn to accept the randomness of the whole thing.
Fantasy baseball is a much more accurate test of baseball acumen because, as you say, of the sample size. I've been in a league for the past 10 years or so with the guys I played old fart baseball with, and the same two guys finish first and second every year. Over the course of a decade, that's not an accident.

I don't know how. The Chiefs are already the only team in the league that has more rushing yards than passing yards. What do you want them to do, run the wishbone?
