Cardinals shortstop Rafael Furcal will take batting practice and groundballs during warmups for tonight's game, but he will not start for a third consecutive time because of discomfort in his lower back. Furcal said the back responded well to treatment on Monday and that the tingling sensation that fired through his right leg had subsided. There remains some soreness in his lower back and hip area and he said he'd rather "miss three or four games now than a whole month."
Here is the lineup for tonight's game against the Rockies:
1. Daniel Descalso, SS
2. Allen Craig, 1B
3. Matt Holliday, LF
4. Carlos Beltran, RF
5. David Freese, 3B
6. Yadier molina, C
7. Jon Jay, CF
8. Skip Schumaker, 2B
9. Kyle Lohse, P
And the Rockies lineup after a swap of leadoff hitters because Dexter Fowler reported to the ballpark ill.
1. Eric Young, CF
2. Josh Rutledge, SS
3. Carlos Gonzalez, LF
4. Michael Cuddyer, RF
5. Todd Helton, 1B
6. Wilin Rosario, C
7. Jordan Pacheco, 3B
8. D. J. LaMahieu, 2B
9. Jeff Francis, P

San Diego is starting Jason Marquis, which is grounds for contraction.
I'm turning my attention towards the wild card for good now. Ricky Nolasco is pitching for the Marlins against Atlanta.

This is off to a good start. Nolasco went into his wind-up, had a hitch and didn't release the ball, earning a balk.

Rec. It's not pretty. Ludwick just hit a popup that carried out of GAB for the 3-run homer, then Frazier hit a legitimate homer for two more.

It's about to get ugly in Chicago, too.

Grand slam by Neil Walker.
Casey Coleman's BAA left-handed hitters was .405 coming into the game. It's higher now.

Now that Theo's garage sale is over, is Soriano the only player left from the Soriano Dynasty?

I wonder if Holliday regrets not taking O'Dowd's $18 million per year extension.
Well this is off to a good start.

Why was Schumaker standing on third when Descalso rolled one to second base? Thank goodness Craig picked him up.

I don't know how much sense this is going to make unless you watch games at Miller Park regularly, but there's a well-endowed, rather attractive woman who calls herself "Front Row Amy" in the stands, directly in line with the centerfield camera, at most, but not all Brewers' home games. She usually wears a blue, white or bright yellow tank top, and she scores the game religiously.
She's not there tonight, but in her usual seat is a huge guy with a beard who kind of looks like Hagrid from Harry Potter, except he's wearing a wig and a yellow sun dress. And he's scoring the game.

I remember hearing about her.
And that sounds very creepy.

It's really, really funny. He's even imitating her mannerisms, like the way she claps and throws back her hair. Except he's got arms like a longshoreman.

Francis is already done?

That was a dangerous at bat. Colvin took a hittable pitch for strike one, and the next-to-last pitch he fouled off was a cookie.
