Cubs 1, Zoltan 0, after two ...
Travis Wood has thrown 40 pitches to get six outs.

It's the bottom of the 4th inning and this game started at 1:20 p.m.? Cripes.

Cement-head goes for the Pads tonight. Kip fucking Wells. 17 strikeouts to 16 walks and four home runs in 30+ innings.

Second pitch deposited into the left field bleachers. 2-1 Padres.

Four pitch walk to Stubbs.

And then he walks Stubbs because now he's afraid to throw the ball in the strike zone.

Even his pick-off throws suck.

There's another homer.

The Padres should forfeit this game and save their bullpen six innings of work.

What's up with that? Is he dying it black? I don't remember his hair being that dark.

Brennaman has a massive erection right now.

Now he walks Wilson Valdez to lead off the inning. That's it. I'm changing the channel to a baseball game.

I've moved on to Florida-Atlanta. I can't remember another year where there were so many bad teams in the NL. Philadelphia, Florida, New York and Milwaukee are going to be lucky to break 75 wins. Chicago, Houston, San Diego and Colorado are going to be lucky to win 60-65.
That the Cardinals are only seven games over .500 when the talent level is this poor and they are so good is supremely disappointing.

Hopefully they score 13 tonight.

And Tyler Greene's career is summed up thusly: Even when he does something good, you end up thinking it could have been better.

George Frazier is trying to explain why Tyler Greene doesn't play more. He's going to need extra innings to finish that discussion.

Carlos Beltran is a pretty terrible fielder.

Boy, I will not miss this.

Westbrook was due a bad start, but it needed to be on a night when the offense was producing.

I've never seen a manager have such a lack of feel for his pitching staff. At what point in that inning when Colorado was roping 400-foot line drives did Matheny think Westbrook had something left? He was struggling to throw strikes to the pitcher.
Offline
Too bad Holliday isn't clutch.

That left quickly ....

I'm not sure he was able to get anyone up in time.
Nice work by Mujica. The last pitch to Brown was meaty, but he otherwise kept the ball down.
