I think they were having a keg party in there.

Damn, missed it. We're still on 5 night per week football practice.

Tomorrow should be our firs night of full contact. This is the day Bob has been waitin for since the end of last season. He just ate a 1 pound pork tenderloin roast to commemorate the event. I feel sorry for the first kid he gets matched up against.

Tk, do you still follow Mizzou football recruiting?

Yep. And my sources tell me Lane Kiffin is scouting your boy. Gotta lock 'em down early you know?

Bob trains at Elite Football Academy. We were there Sunday, and Bob worked for about 10-15 minutes with Eric Beisel, Mizzou's most recent commitment. As much as I like to think Bob is crazy about football, Beisel is freaking insane. He should be fun to watch.

Re: 8/7 Gamecrap

Well it looks like Allen Craig played Buster Posey and Posey won.

Lance Lynn is simply not good right now.

This keeps getting said on here.  I havent watch many of his games of late but his results seem doable.  Looking at the box scores, he let Posey beat him once.  It isnt like he is Anthony Reyesing things out there.

Pirates, Reds and Cardinals lost.  The good thing is everyone lost.  The bad thing is the Cardinals could have picked up a game.

You should really watch because it's pretty painful to watch. His stuff is good enough that he's able to squeak by, but the Cardinals need something more than that right now, and especially in the playoffs. Even when the results look good he's out there throwing sliders in the dirt or missing Molina's target by seven inches outside. Tonight he struggled to put away Barry Zito, and Hrabosky mentioned that Molina was getting frustrated with him.

Since the ASB he's yet to face a good lineup. The Cubs pounded him for heaven's sake.

Schumaker did NOT swing. That's a brutal call.

That was bad, but I couldn't figure out why Schumaker turned inside on a pitch coming right at him.

I don't know why guys do that. Delscazlio just barely ducked out of the way in similar fashion with two outs in the ninth. Let the thing hit you to bring the guy who's already hit two bombs to the plate as the tying run. It's not like a pitch from Jeremy Affeldt is going to leave a mark.

"my sources tell me Lane Kiffin is scouting your boy"

If it were me and Kiffin came on a recruiting visit, I'd greet him at the front door with a sledgehammer and tell him he has three seconds to get his scrawny lying pale hide off my property before I shove it up his arse. Business end first.

He's perservering. Reyes would have given up about eight runs in three innings before he hit the shower. It seemed like he was in trouble right away in every inning but the third. He got a big double play in the second inning with runners on first and third and one out (on a nicely-turned force play by Skippy), and he needed a big time catch from Jay at the warning track to end another threat.
He's just not getting a lot of swings and misses right now. I'm guessing hitters have adjusted and are laying off that slider that breaks down and away from right handed batters. And he's having trouble finishing his fastball at times. So he's falling behind in a lot of counts and can't work the corners as much as he'd like.

Re: 8/7 Gamecrap

Seems like he is falling off to the first base line after delivery way more than he did at the beginning of the year . Occasionally on some pitches he nearly turns his back to the plate seemingly as the ball crosses the plate . That doesn't appear to be good mechanics to me . Is he tired ?

Re: 8/7 Gamecrap

I can't open the article right now, but I do think in a way Lynn is tiring out because his stuff simply isn't as sharp as it was earlier in the season. He's strong enough that he can still get good zip on his pitches, but when you only get one swinging strike on fastballs that are sitting in the low to mid-90s, you're going to struggle.

Lynn has shown that if he doesn't have his fastball working then he's pretty much toast because his secondary pitches are just sort of...messy. He could get away with that earlier in the year when he was so good at spotting the four-seamer on the corners.
