Re: 9/9 GC vs. Brewers

Sorry Don, but I didn't watch a single pith this weekend. I spent Friday night at a friend's wedding, Saturday night at the Mizzou game and today my daughter had a volleyball game and then I came home and had to work on the lawn. From what I saw of the scores, I suspect I'm glad I missed it. But I guess we're still in a playoff spot so there's that.

Putting stuff on a message board is at the bottom of the totem pole, when things like family responsibilities are at hand , I'm retired , My children are all grown, I do get to watch my grandkids play sports , and other activities as much as I can . I'm mostly talkin' to myself anyway ... (happy)

I almost lost my lunch when Aoki homered, but it ended well.
If Barry Zito holds on to this lead, everyone behind the Cardinals in the WC chase will have lost today.

"I didn't watch a single pith this weekend."

I know we've generally sworn off jumping on each other's typos, but this one prompted an image of you in a pith helmet that was kind of hysterical.

Re: 9/9 GC vs. Brewers

I didn't watch yesterday, but this is a zombie team. They are the walking dead. Their most reliable pitcher at this point is Joe Kelly. Nearly everyone in the lineup is hurt or sucking wind. Lance Lynn somehow keeps getting important innings. And I see they are still 1.5 up on LA.

Re: 9/9 GC vs. Brewers

As long as the keep holding on I keep some faith.  I think it is important to get ahead of the Braves.  I dont think they have it in them but in a one game playoff you want to be at your park.

The second wildcard may boil down to who is the least sucky ...

Maybe, but the one team I don't want to play in a 1-game playoff is the Cardinals. I know the Braves have won Medlen's last 700 starts in a row or some absurd number, but he's beaten one team with a winning record. One. And I'm not sure they even start him. That's a lot of pressure for a kid who started the season as a low-leverage setup guy. So then who do you go with? Hudson? Maholm?

Yeah but they really wouldnt want to face the Cardinals at home.  Then if the Cardinals won they would get to stay put for the first two game of the NLDS.
