I dunno, but I think this final 15-game stretch is where I'd want La Russa in charge. Not because I think they would play better, but because you knew he'd manage every game like his life depended on it. Matheny is obsessed with sacrifice bunts and getting Victor Marte innings.

This is way too close ....

Does Dominguez have really high knees?

Have the Astros figured out Tyler Greene isn't an everyday player, or is he just getting a night off?

Trifecta for Carlos...

I see jackets in the crowd. Is it chilly in The Loo tonight, or are you Midwesterners just a bunch of pansies?

He's conserving energy again by not running the bases.

It appears that for at least another year we'll have to hear that the Pirates haven't finished above .500 since 1992.
Maybe next year they can get to 20 games over with 25 left. Maybe then they could end the streak.

It's in the 50s, headed down into the 40s.

Come on, Boggs. Let's not make this a ballgame again.

Play a shift on Yadi, who can take the ball to right, and then pitch him away. Great strategy.

Heard on the radio today Luhnow thinks the Astros need a star player from Mexico to excite the fan base. I'm guessing Luhnow himself will supervise that scouting trip.

Not necessarily, but he may be afflicted with Elongated Fibula Syndrome. It's rare.

Cards have 14 to go with a 1.5 game lead on the Dodgers and 2.5 game lead on the Brewers. Milwaukee is the only team I'm nervous about.

He could have stopped there.

Rec, this year we have all seen how TLR was a great manager. Matheny has done a pretty alright job for what little qualifications he had. I have alot of respect for how a manager has to handle the bullpen. Second guessing Matheny at the speed a game moves is hard. I dont think I could sit in the dugout and be able to tell him what he is screwing up. Highsight works to prefection. Then I start to think about TLR and how far ahead of the game his mind was moving. It is pretty unreal.

It is the Cardinals to lose.
