Nats beat the Dodgers in the first of two.
I thought I read Burnett was starting for the Pirates against Milwaukee, but it's some kid named McPherson making his major league debut. Aoki hit his second pitch over the wall.

If you had told me a half-dozen years ago that Yadi would have 20 home runs in 2012, I would have assumed you were talking about his career.

If Bud Norris can't go tomorrow, the Cardinals should give whoever gave him the flu a playoff share.

Don, who's the worst hitting pitcher you've ever seen?

Take your time. Lynn's average is terrible, but he swings the bat better than .065 or whatever he's hitting. I'm trying to think of guys who couldn't hit and looked lousy doing it. Pedro Martinez comes to mind immediately. He looked like he was trying to swat pigeons.

Nats have scored six in the 8th to tie up the Dodgers.

Wow!!! How nasty was Boggs???

Paredes could have been in the batter's box for three days and not gotten a hit off Motte.

Got 'er done. And now we're back to hoping the Pirates beat the Brewers tomorrow. Back to normal.

Got to see More of Houston (since expansion ) then anyone else and not remembering too much or following too closely visiting pitcher's batting , the Colt 45's and early Astro pitchers were pretty bad . But the guy I got to see the most (live) while he was there would be Nolan Ryan, he may not have had the lowest average, but he could look very bad up there at times . A washwoman swing as we use to call it in those days . Course owners didn't give a rat's ass about his plate appearances ..

Wasnt there a guy for the Gaints that stood in the back 3 inches of the batters box and didnt take the bat off his shoulder?

The Nats almost grabbed both games. That would have been great. I wish the Cardinals could play Houston for the rest of the season. They do have another series against them and as long as they dont get Cubphobia they should beat them to. The Cardinals would really have to shit themself to screw this up.

You may be referring to someone more contemporary, but the only thing Juan Marichal ever hit with a bat was John Roseboro's head.
My dad called during the game last night and his response was Dean Chance. So I looked it up. Career BA of .066 with 422 strikeouts in 662 ABs. That's really, really bad.

Other than playing the Cubs and the Astros on the road instead of at home, it's really a favorable sked. They finish up with the Nats and the Reds, who will both likely have their spots wrapped up by the time they get here.
The Dodgers go to Cincinnati, which will still have something to play for this weekend, and then to San Diego before they finish up at home with the Rockies and the Giants.
Milawukee goes to Washington and Cincinnati and finishes up at home with the Astros and the Padres.
The Phillies are at home against the Braves and the Nats, and then finish on the road at Miami and at Washington.

The Saberheads tend to agree.
Top five WAR in the league
Y.Molina STL 6.9
A.McCutchen PIT 6.6
R.Braun MIL 6.6
D.Wright NYM 6.5
B.Posey SFG 6.4
In the AL, Trout is a slam dunk. His WAR is 10.2. Verlander is next at 6.8.

The Cardinals need to jump on the Stros and Cubs. They are the two upcomming series plus the game against Houston tonight. The Dodgers play the Reds at Cin. The Cardinals have to distance themself to the point that they can afford to go 3-3 vs the Nats and Reds.

Molina is the MVP, without question.
