Pretty awesome, Web. The other announcer is Curt Gowdy. He used to live across the street from one of my baseball coaches.

I watched every minute of that game, as well as the pre-game interviews with Sandy Koufax and Tony Kubeck. When asked to pick which team would win the day's game, I distinctly remember Koufax saying, "The Cardinals. I'll always go with Gibson."
I note one of the comments said something about it being a young Harry. Hardly. That was his 23rd year as the Cardinals' lead announcer. He was fired two years later.
But I guess it's all relative.
The game of course had a tremendous buildup since the opposing pitcher was 30 game winner Denny McClain. I also remember Harry saying when it was over how he knew that when he came to a game like that one that he knew Gibson's competitive spirit would bring him out on top.
According to one of the Tiger players, Cash came back to the bench after his first AB against Gibby and said, "Hell, there's no point in my taking a bat up there with me the next time."

Gibson just looked so relaxed on the mound! Pitchers these days look nervous up there - most of them anyway.

We all know why old Harry got fired too! Messing around with the wife of the boss is not a good thing (lol) He had a happy & lengthy career with the Cubbies after that though Maybe he brought them a curse (wink)
