At least they didn't strand him. Good start.

Fantastic. Dusty is letting the Cardinals turn over their lineup. What a great manager he is. Manager of the Year, IMO.

Well, you can't expect to win 1-0. Time for the Cardinals to stop squandering opportunities.

Carpenter leaving a lot of pitches up. Matheny wisely getting someone warm.

Reds are 63-12 when leading at the start of the 6th. They're in dangerous territory.

I'm downgrading myself from "concerned" to "worried."

Think Kozma got a break from blue on that 4th pitch , but he didn't let that hanging curve get by him ..

We're back to where we were when we started the season - Shano is the best right-handed option off the bench.

Dodgers have runners on first and second with two outs, but Capuano is up.

... and out.

Pretty typical night. The middle of the order has been killing them.

San Francisco is throwing the ball all over the diamond.

Fortunately, Zito looks pretty good so far. What happened to Capuano? "Anchorman" is on Cinemax and I got sidetracked for a few minutes during the fight scene when Brick kills a guy with a trident.

Giants up 4-1 heading to the bottom of the fifth.

Yeah, I saw Scutaro's double.
My favorite line is when he calls her a smelly pirate hooker.

Pagan just made a play that would be embarrassing in Little League. No clue how the Giants have won 92 games.

Whew.

And Zito overcomes it. Phew.

You'd think all that pitching would carry them, but it's been their offense that turned it up in the second half. After the Astros and the Cubs, they might be the worst defensive team in the National League, and their bullpen has been incendiary at times.

Oakland is six outs away from entering a first-place tie for the AL West.

My recollection is that Crawford and Scutaro are good, but Posey is awful regardless of where he's at on the diamond.

Dear god, Xavier Nady is still on a major league roster. The things you see in September.

Zito has settled into an unspectacular-but-effective mode.
I don't know how much longer you go with him here, but I'm not sure I want to see the Giants' bullpen yet either.

Crawford has a nice arm. I'm guessing this at bat will be the last we see of Arias tonight.
