Moreso than Herb Chambers, anyway.

Hi guys! Watching the DEBATE in Lower Alabama as we TRY to clear out my mother's house. Pulling a 22 foot trailer & hooked it up myself (BTW) along with load bearing hitch attachment!! Missing way too much baseball though (depressed). Sorry I'm missing so much here but with illness & the death of my mother this summer, I'm overwhelmed with "stuff" to do. Hoping for miracles again this year! Hope "all y'all are doing fine"!

MLBN is deperately trying to re-create the last night of the 2011 regular season tonight, and it ain't happenin' for them. Sorry, there's no drama in a team winning a division title when the other team is also in the post-season.

According to Ken Rosenthal, Brian McCann will NOT be starting tomorrow. David Ross to get the nod.

That is what it said on the post-dispatch as well. I am not sure why they would do that. I wouldnt think they would be playing splits with a player like McCann. He isnt have the best year BA wise but he has still got some pop.
Offline
I don't think it's a match-up thing as much as it is McCann isn't fully healthy. Ross bats right handed and McCann lefthanded. With Lohse on the mound, there has to be a reason other than a lefty-righty match-up.

The roster. I like the idea of keeping Garcia on and I still would have had Wainwright around. It a game seven. You need all hands on deck.:
Matheny talks about roster makeup, which includes 10 pitchers
The Cardinals will go into the one-game playoff against the Atlanta Braves with a 25-man roster split between 10 pitchers and 15 position players.
The roster is fixed for only the one game allowing both teams to be more aggressive with the active pitchers, and thus bullpen-heavy.
The Cardinals considered briefly -- there was "discussion," GM John Mozeliak said -- keeping Jaime Garcia active for this one-game playoff as a lefthanded deterrent against a lefthanded-heavy Braves lineup. But the lefty won't be. The only other starter active for this one-game series is Lance Lynn, who will serve as both a long option should actual starter Kyle Lohse falter or an extra-inning option should those approach.
The Cardinals will carry two lefties: Marc Rzepczynski and Sam Freeman.
Rookies Trevor Rosenthal and Joe Kelly will also be in the bullpen, alongside the firm of Mujica, Boggs & Motte. The final bullpen spot goes to Fernando Salas.
To outfit the 15-man position part of the roster, the Cardinals are going to carry three catchers. Bryan Anderson gets the nod as the extra part. Ryan Jackson will also join the bench -- presumably as a tactical option should the Cardinals double-switch themselves into a need or try to go for more offense early in the game and need a defensive shortstop later.
"I think they kind of made themselves," Matheny said of the decisions. "This is kind of unprecedented how to go about this one-game series. But we have the ability to add some depth to our bench in case we do need to put some players in late. As far as the pitching goes, our bullpen has been pretty established. To be able to add another arm like a Lynn out of the starting rotation really makes a lot of sense, without putting any of the other guys on shorter rest in situations that we probably wouldn't use them anyhow.
"So it really kind of defined itself."

I would have gone with Garcia. He can give you an inning or even a batter and be ready for a start in the playoffs. Freeman is more effective against righties. I don't see the need for having that when you've got the righty trio and Lynn all rested.

That is my thinking about having keeping Wainwright.
The post dispatch kind of sucks. I was on there page looking at the upcoming schedule. It is blank. Is there really so much going on that they cant have that updated. So I had to go to yahoo to find out, 4pm start time.

I think there was a Rams game in St. Louis last night.
I had to call my dad last night to straighten him out. He still thinks St. Louis and the Cardinals are the same football team, and they played the Los Angeles Rams last night.

They have got it up now and I wouldnt call the Rams game a game. Man was the first half boring. I gave up. No disrespect to Rams fans.

Hope the weather is better in Atlanta. Not sure if St. louis is getting this but this is some damn cold rain.

It's here too. About 45 degrees and it's been raining all day.

The time has come. I may have to retreat to the basement to be able to watch this.

Good for Atlanta for finally breaking the 30,000 threshold.
