I'll take that.
Be nice if Freese can bust this thing open.

Now batting.... David Freese. Probably a pitching change incoming however.
End this game Freese, one swing and this shit is over.

You know you're a pessimist when the team you root for is up 6-0 in the seventh inning of Game 3 of a 5-game series and the only thing you can think about is how they should be nine outs from a sweep.

Oh , David that 2nd pitch was yours ....

Blargh. Fuck Freese! Oh well. Come on Descalso!

well... 6-0, but I can't really smile about that result.

Hopefully we score more runs, but let's assume we don't. You let Rosenthal go back out there? Mujica, Boggs and Motte have been rode pretty hard the last month or so.
Let Rosenthal start the 7th, but keep him on a short leash. The good thing is everyone had yesterday off, so you can go to them if you have to. But it would be OK to have them fresh for Game 4, too.

And no Artie. I also still hate that we gave up game 1 instead of just handing Motte the ball for a 4 out save.

I agree, but rather than go to Mujica, I might give Kelly first shot.

Kinda like this Rosenthal ... Kid has an arm.

That was only our 3rd K today .....

Who pitches the 8th? Boggs?

8-0. This is what I like to see.

Got to give Beltran props there , well done ....

Cards Sweep!!! ... wait.
Shit.
Good win though!

Very nice win. Beat Detwieler and take another step.
Perhaps I'm overanalyzing, but I saw this story and it made me smile. First, let me say I think "anonymous player" is a douche. Either put your name on it or don't say it. But if the Nationals are genuinely grumbling about not having Strasburg, that's a distraction that should work in the Cardinals favor.

Not for nuthin', but how much did Carpenter's already considerable legend grow today? Has anyone ever won a post-season game afer not winning a regular season game?

Aye.
Injuries limited his ability to post significant career numbers, but I wouldn't be shocked if one day Carpenter has a statue mixed in with the smaller statues on the northwest corner of the stadium.
10-2 in 16 career post-season starts with an ERA under 3. And quite possibly the biggest set of juevos on the planet.

Apparently not.
"His team won zero games he started this season (going 0-3 in his three September starts). So if he starts and wins a postseason game, according to the Elias Sports Bureau, he would be the first pitcher in the history of baseball to do that following a season in which his team was winless when he pitched."
