Kudos to Missouri

As a Missouri wanabe, I was more than a little pleased.

File under: "Things you learn every day." I had no idea Missurah had a reputation as a puppy mill state.
It still doesn't explain why my neighbor lets his German Shepherd poop on my front lawn.

I'm sorry to hear that but not surprised.  Special interest groups will nearly always prevail over choices that are (1) humane, (2) altruistic, or (3) in the public interest.  But my main point is that it speaks very well for Missouri that the voters, no matter how small the margin, chose to adopt the measure.

I really don't have any hope of humans ever extending to animals, and especially dogs, the humane treatment that they have earned.  As the world becomes more and more overrun with human beings, the more vulnerable creatures are going to have to pay the price for our self-indulgence until we have used up all of the other resources and are forced to turn on ourselves exclusively.

Re: Kudos to Missouri

I think Prop B received most of its opposition because farmers say it's going to affect their livestock and it's not just about puppies. Had St. Louis and Kansas City not turned out so strongly for it, it would've easily failed.
