How many times have we seen this? A pitcher gets in a jam in a key game, nearly finds a way out, but some fuck up screws it up, and suddenly he can't find the strike zone.
Lynn is done, all because he fucked up a throw to second.

Maybe he thought the rules allow him to get an out if he hits the bag with the throw.
I don't think they go over these scenarios in the pre-game meetings.
