World Series GC

Jesus, is the Giants' luck going to carry over into the World Series too?  Nice "double" for Pagan. I hate his stupid fucking salute.

Re: World Series GC

Based on that HR celebration, the Giants apparently just became the first team in baseball to win a game after 3 innings. All started by a simple ground ball that happened to hit the 3rd base bag.

Re: World Series GC

Doesn't Leyland have to get Verlander out of the game in case he needs him for Game 4. He's at 100 pitches in the 4th?  Call it a night already.

Ruth, Pujols, and Jackson, and Sandoval.  As natural as bacon, lettuce, and tomato, and chocolate sauce.

Rec. Missed the game because I went to see Max's favorite band Rush (phenomenal, as usual), but I would have bet money the Tigers would have won last night.

Re: World Series GC

I have to cover a playoff game tonight and won't be able to see Brandon Crawford hit for the cycle while Bumgarner goes 2-4 with a double and a bases-clearing triple. Woe is me.

Re: World Series GC

Just read that last night's game was the second-lowest rated Game One ever...right behind St. Louis-Detroit in 2006. A few things to take away from this: nobody gives a shit about the Giants; the Tigers have a shitty fanbase with no justification for not tuning in, and this rating should be more disappointing than 2006 because that game was on a Saturday night.

Re: World Series GC

That's a good call by the umpire. If Fielder wants to be pissed at anyone, he should be pissed at himself for taking a terrible angle to 3rd which caused him to have to slow up.

Re: World Series GC

So this one is pretty much over. I dunno if I can handle a world where Hunter Pence is two games away from being a champion.

Did you see Blanco's bunt just now (bottom 7th)? That ball sat like a high chip onto a soft green.

Re: World Series GC

Wow, so if I am counting correctly, the Giants have given up 4 runs in their past 5 games and have three shut outs during that run . . . and that is NLCS games 5, 6, and 7, and WS games 1 and 2.  Pretty fucking amazing pitching.

My reaction to tonight's game is a little more self-serving: The Cardinals didn't suck against Vogelsong. Vogelsong is pitching really, really well.
How does Vogelsong suck with the shittiest version of the Pittsburgh Pirates, bounce between the minors and Japan for five years, and then become the Giants' best post-season pitcher?

Re: World Series GC

Yeah, suddenly the Cardinals collapse at the end doesn't look quite as bad. Detroit has now gone 2+ games since the last time they scored.

Props to Gregor Blanco for shoving Ken Rosenthal's bowtie up his arse in the post-game interview.

Yeah, SFG is getting some great pitching. Reminds me of Red Sox 2004 run... not much that can be done about it

Red Sox 2004 reminds me of a very unfair strike zone and some 'roided up hitters in the middle of the order for the Sux.

With how poor the Tigers have played it makes you wonder how close the Cardinals were to repeating.
