It appears that MLB is trying to turn the awards presentation into an event. The announcements are being televised by MLB Network at 6:00 p.m. (EST) each day.
Another new twist is that the BBWAA is making the ballots public. The voting can be found at

Interesting Burwell got a vote. I wonder how many games he saw.

You can make an argument for Dickey, I'm just surprised he won by such a large margin pitching for a team that really wasn't in contention.
Cueto got a first place vote from John Fay, the ball-washer from the Cinci Enquirer.

"Cueto got a first place vote from John Fay, the ball-washer from the Cinci Enquirer."
Fay must've been confused when he tried to wash Cueto's and couldn't find any.

I guess I didnt know Price had such a good year as I dont pay attention to the AL much. I thought it would be Verlander. Stat guys could make a case for Verlander. Price got the magic 20 wins tho. How the hell does Rodney get a first place vote. From a texas guy, suprise suprise.

Posey won the NL MVP. Cabrera in the AL.
Yadi finished 4th. He got two 1st place votes and 6 seconds. 29 of the 32 voters had him their top 4.
Holliday finished 11th. Craig and Beltran also got votes.

Ugh.
I'm not going to let myself get angry about this, but Ryan Braun? For real?

I don't get why that's funny.

John Maffei from the North County Times in San Diego thought Martin Prado deserved a top 10 vote and Yadi didn't. What did he watch?

Because Cabrera did something that hasn't been done for 45 years.
It would be like not voting to give the Cy Young to a 30-game winner whose team made the playoffs under the rationale some closer from a third place team had a lower WHIP.

MVP awards are not supposed to be presented for historical accomplishments. And defense and baserunning are real live things that affect a game. Cabrera is spectacularly bad at both of them.

That's unspeakably stupid. Did Molina bang his wife?

I'm not disputing defense and baserunning are components that ought to be taken into consideration. As should leading your team to the playoffs. But at the end of the day, if you lead the league in batting average, home runs, RBI, slugging percentage, OPS, extra base hits and total bases, you're the most valuable player of that league.

Yeah, he had an other-wordly year with the bat, but we're also talking about someone that was bunted at 25 times which resulted in 10 hits and five sacrifices. At some point your defense becomes a hinderance to winning and I think Cabrera definitely crossed that threshold.

So you're saying one of the reasons Trout had a better year than Cabrera is because Cabrera had to field a bunt once a week?

I think it's pretty indicative of how terrible Cabrera was on defense. His range was non-existent and Tigers pitchers were probably worse as a result.
The gap between Trout and Cabrera on defense is equivalent to the sun and Jupiter. OK, maybe not Jupiter. But definitely Mars.
