for Omar Infante and a lefty reliever.
Westbrook gets 2 yrs/$16.5 million.
Looks like La Russa wins.

I think LaRussa would have agreed to sit Schumaker and let them trade prospects if it got them Uggla.

I am glad they got this done, and did it fairly cheaply. But this was a "must" for Mozeliak, because if Westbrook had walked, then we would have rented him for two months at the cost of Ludwick, which would have looked very bad on his record. Not quite epicly bad, but he would have gotten a lot of shit behind his back and on boards like ours.

The Uggla trade seems to have been a steal. Tell me where we sign up for making trades like that?

No doubt. If you believe having the player on the team for 2 months increases the chance of resigning him, then I guess the trade works out OK. Personally, I'd have rather signed Westbrook as a free agent and still have Ludwick as a trade chit.

No kidding! If you're going to trade a quality piece, midseason, at least make sure you have done the minimum to ensure you make the playoffs.

Excellent. The Uggla trade was obviously a typical Marlins' salary dump. That owner is a friggin' joke.

I wouldnt call this cheap. There are alot of Westbrookish level pitchers in this year FA class. He is luck to get this deal without even having to test the waters. I wont go as far as to say they grossly overpaid but I am suprised. I would say ownership see the rotation as more of an issue then the fans did and rightly so. It would be stupid to expect the same kind of year out of Garcia, Carp isnt getting younger and we are stuck with Loshe for 2 more years.

The same could be said of Holliday.

Makes you wonder what the Cardinals would have had to offer. I am guessing the contract of Uggla was what the Cardinals took issue with.

Since it isn't my money, and the off-season is all about speculation and guesswork anyway--why not give this guy a look?

Strauss says the Marlins wanted Rasmus.

Budget, what budget? The guy could look great in a uniform with birds on a bat.

"He runs faster than a lot of people."
So do I. But most of them are in wheelchairs or cemeteries.

And think of how thrilled Tony will be to have another Japanese player in the clubhouse shower.

And I wanted to wake up this morning lying next to Elisa Dushku, but that didn't happen either.

I doubt they would have demanded Rasmus. They might have asked. It is just hard to believe they settled for what they got if there sights were set on someone like Rasmus. Not that they got a bad player. The trade just seems lopsided.
And every team they contact about trades are going to ask for Rasmus because he demained to be traded last year.

My question is if Ryan has to be gone in 2011 then who plays SS. There isnt one name out there other then Drew that really interest me. The two they are throwing around for the utlity role isnt promising either.

No problem. Tell them to toss in Ramirez.

Dushku?!?
In Indonesian, the "ku" suffix means me or mine, making her name read like "douche me".

She can call herself anything she wants.

Preferably where it's shark infested.
