Re: Albert Pujols Gamecrap

You got it backward AP.  Cards are one game over .500 (28-27).  Angels are at .500 (28-28).

However, the Angels have certainly been headed in a much better direction than the Cardinals in the last 3 weeks or so.

Must be the new hitting coach.

Wait until Pujols gets Scioscia fired.  Then they'll really take off.

Re: Albert Pujols Gamecrap

This thread had died a slow death, but seeing the All-Star rosters AP posted, I had to ask, shouldn't $250M buy you an All-Star?

I wonder who is more popular among Angels fans these days--Pujol$ or Mike Trout?  If I had to guess, I'd go with the latter.  Funny that Moreno felt the need to sign a "face of the franchise" when he already had him sitting at AAA.

Three months into a 10 year contract and Albert isn't even the best player on his new team.  I wonder how that registers on Didi Pujols' "respect" meter?

Re: Albert Pujols Gamecrap

Pujols can still make .30/100/.300.  How I do not know.  IMO when the Angles paid him that money that is what they bought.

Re: Albert Pujols Gamecrap

No doubt Pujols could still reach .300/30/100/100.  Right now, however, he's on pace for .273/25/84/96.

Trout was in the minors most of April and is currently at .348/10/54/38 with 26 steals.  The Angels' first baseman last season, Mark Trumbo, is at .306/20/39/55.  Combined, they make less this season than Pujol$ made last month.

It's not about money. Remember? The Angels spoke to his heart.

Re: Albert Pujols Gamecrap

I'm just wondering how Pujol$' ego is handling being the 3rd best position player on his team.  And I think it's hysterical that he finished 5th in the All-Star voting.  He's become virtually insignificant.

Re: Albert Pujols Gamecrap

I am sure that Pujols isnt happy with his season.  However I dont think the Angles shouldnt complain about what they got for their money.  Aside from a very slow start they are getting about what they should have expected.  His number might be alittle low but it isnt like he dropped off the face of the earth.  If it wasnt for the slow slow start nobody would be questioning this midseason stats.

Re: Albert Pujols Gamecrap

With an HR on Wednesday, Pujols became the first player in history with 30 homers in each of his first 12 seasons. He also tied Stan Musial and Willie Stargell for 28th place on the career list with No. 475.

Re: Albert Pujols Gamecrap

The Angles are 3.5 back of the wild card and in 3rd place in the west.  I wonder how much they psend this offseason?

The A's clinch a wild card spot tonight and officially eliminate Anaheim from playoff contention.

Guess will have to wait until next year for the Cardinals to meet up with the Pujols Dynasty in the World Series.

Re: Albert Pujols Gamecrap

Goo call, Wingwalker.

Also interesting that the As have a legitimate shot at taking the West and relegating Texas to the wild card shootout.

"Goo call, Wingwalker."

Wingwalker got nothing to do with it. God like San Loois more than he like Angaheim.

Re: Albert Pujols Gamecrap

More from Strauss chat:

QUESTION
"Mr. Strauss, I don't know how much credence you pay to rumors when there are unidentified sources involved, but here goes. My sister lives in Orlando and she just happened to meet the wife of an Angels' pitcher (hint: he used to pitch in KC and Milwaukee), and according to what my sister was hearing, Albert Pujols isn't very well liked in the Anaheim clubhouse. It seems he tried to take over the team - remember the Mickey Harcher firing? - and his teammates apparently don't think he deserved the kind of money he is to be paid. Have you heard anything out of Anaheim that in any way resembles what my sister was apparently told? Thanks again."

ANSWER
Yes

Man, I wonder who the pitcher could be. Derrick Turnbow maybe? I'll have to think on this for awhile.

Zack Greinke?
I can't imagine Greinke is well-liked either. He's as weird as foot with eight toes.

Re: Albert Pujols Gamecrap

I assumed it was Greinke.  What is the deal with the 8 toed foot?  Never heard that.

Re: Albert Pujols Gamecrap

I think TK was being facetious.

Re: Albert Pujols Gamecrap

The 8-toed foot reference was mine.
I wasn't implying Greinke has eight toes. Merely suggesting a foot with that many toes would be weird. I was just trying not to use a cliche like "Greinke is an odd duck."

11/23/2012 12:43 pm  #199

Re: Albert Pujols Gamecrap

Oh I thought maybe he really did have 8 toes.  That would be odd.

Re: Albert Pujols Gamecrap

I think Albert lost a lot of the comforts he was used to in St. Louis. One of the things Chad told me was that Anaheim doesn't keep a very kid/family friendly environment, especially in the spring. When he was with the Cardinals, his oldest son was everywhere with him and had free run to shag flies, use the batting cage, etc...  Apparently the first time A.J. tried to jump in the cage at Angels camp he was told he wasn't allowed in the cage.

Chad said he had a couple of discussions with Pujols during the season and Pujols really wishes he'd stayed.
