Interesting breakdown
Wow. I think that's the first time Anibal Sanchez has been on a top five list of anything. It's a good thing the Cardinals aren't going to have to dip into free agency too much this off-season.

James Loney 1yr/$2m to the Rays. I would have thought he could have gotten more.

Really? For a guy that can catch and 20 to 30 HRS? It is olny a 3 year deal. I dont think it is to bad. Teams like the Red Soxs have to overpay alittle because of who they are.
ARoid might be out for a good part of 2013.

They signed him to play first base.

Giants re-sign Angel Pagan. 4/$40M

He's going to play first. He's coming off a ~.230/25/65 season, which is awful for a corner infielder. If the Red Sox started the season today, their outfield would be Jonny Gomes, Jacoby Ellsbury and Ryan Kalish. And what's going to happen once Ellsbury has his annual injury? Is Daniel Nava going to get 500 at bats playing center?
And they haven't begun to address their pitching. Right now, they have three starters - Lester, Buchholz and Duobront. Lackey is awful, and he's coming off TJ. Who's going to be their fifth starter? Rubby De La Rosa?

I bet he spends at least half of it on oil paintings of himself.

I dont follow the Red Soxs. I assumes he would spend some time behind the play. It looks like Jarrod Saltalamacchia is another version of Napoli.

They also signed David Ross, and I'm pretty sure they have another catcher on the 40-man. I'm not sure what they're doing, unless they're trying to collect every catcher in the league so no one else will have one.

The other catcher you're thinking of is Ryan Lavarnway. I think the Sawx are counting on their fans not being very bright. They'd have been better served spending that money on Adam Laroche and sticking him at first base. The only way the Napoli move makes sense is if they can play him behind the plate, and it doesn't appear they can.

Dan Haren gets one year and 13 million from the Nationals. Not a bad deal, IMO.

They root for a team that didn't win anything for 86 years. The only thing more futile would be rooting for a team that hasn't won anything for 104 years ... and counting.

Haren's velocity has dropped and he's been plagued by injuries lately, but this could work out for the Nats. They certainly can't count on him to to a #1 or a #2 anymore, but he doesn't have to be a #1 or a #2 in that rotation.

Jeff Keppinger singed for the White Sox's for 3/12. Id have liked to see the Cardinals in on that. He would have been another option at pretty much every position on the field but centerfield and catcher. He has even played alittle SS through the years.

Not sure I would have wanted Keppinger in St. Louis for the next three years, but I'm glad he's going to the other league. It always seemed like he went 3-for-4 with a homer in every game he played against the Cardinals.
