Am I misunderstanding the bold face comment, or does arrogance drip unintentionally from this man's statements?  Or perhaps it is more calculated than pure arrogance?  I suppose it is possible that his "hopefully that will be the case" was meant simply to mean, "hopefully it will be the case that Pujols returns as a Cardinal", but it reads to me like "Hopefully, Pujols meant what he said and is willing to meet my terms."

"He's said he wants to come back and we've said we want him. But trying to put that into a contract is not easy when you're talking a player of this caliber. He's been pretty consistent that he likes St. Louis and would like to stay. Hopefully that will be the case. We'll see."
