PAT attempt, blocked and recovered by the defense at the 1 or 2 yard line. If they can advance this to the other end zone, it's worth 2 points for the defense, and K State is trailing big. So he backs into the end zone and attempts to run around the left side. He's getting hemmed in and laterals to a guy who bobbles it, and goes down for the ball. Down in the end zone.

I guess in college if you come to possess a PAT as the defensive unit outside the endzone, and bring it back to the end zone. It's a safety. Since it's a safety on a PAT however, it's only worth one point. I had never seen it. The ref even came back and explained, "We have an obscure ruling on the field.... <<Explanation>>"

In the NFL it is dead. It's a non-play, no clock movement, etc.

In college however? Different rule. I didn't know it was there until the ACC ref was telling me about it and Todd Blacklidge (Commentator) was saying that had happened to him twice in college, and he was glad the rule was remembered.
