Freese to start the season on the DL
back dated to March 22. Will miss at least the first 6 days of the season.
Ryan Jackson is taking Freese's spot on the roster.

I think Freese's tenure as a Cardinals may be nearing an end. He can't stay healthy. 3 off-the-field driving incidents and moving through his arbitration years. It might makes sense to start looking to move him.

Yes, and let's return to that "swerved to miss a deer" episode and question whether the team bought it or not.
The FO faces a dilemma, however: how to trade away a very popular hometown boy without pissing off the fans and without decreasing his value.

So long as the trade benefits the team, the FO will be fine. The message has already been sent to anyone listening. The FO locked up Craig long term before he hit arbitration. They've never even approached Freese about a long term deal.

I wouldnt care. Freeses time is srinking. Nothing he has done leads me to think he can produce at a high level for years to come.
