One thing about Garcia tonight is he seems more composed. If Carpenter had made that error any other year, Garcia would have started dancing around the mound and looking into the dugout. He came back with some really good, smart pitches to Marte. I think he struck him out without throwing a pitch in the strike zone.
Garcia needs to move past those mental lapses. It's entirely possible, if not likely he's the 2nd most senior pitcher in the rotation next season. It would be huge for this team if he could develop into the role Wainwright grew into under Carpenter.

Did Al really just suggest removing the left handed Garcia in favor of the left handed Choate? I'm not sure how much FoxMW is paying him, but it's too much.

Ugh. You just can't lose that batter.

Not sure why I feel the need to say this, but Pablo Sandoval is REALLY fat.

Honus Kozma may have broken that girl's jaw.
Sorry Al, that isn't her boyfriend, it's her gay friend. A heterosexual male doesn't jump out of the way like a little bitch, he tries to catch the ball.

Without hearing what Al said, I was going nuts on my couch when Matheny went to the righty. He might have been the only person on the planet who didn't see Gibson sending up Kubel. MM landed on his feet because Mujica made pitches.

You sneaking a few peaks at Giants/Dodgers? Bumgarner is mowing down the Dodgers. That ought to make his fantasy owners happy.

How glad is Moz he didn't trade for Heath Bell like everyone wanted him to in 2011?

No. It started flying once Heath Bell got in the game.

C'mon, who didn't see Kozma, Robinson, Jay and think "this is 3 runs, easy."
Heath Bell is awful.

Honus has two hits - a single that went 35 feet and a home run that went half a mile.

Was it the marlins that gave him the big deal just last year? I wonder who is paying him?

"Heath Bell is awful."
Hey, after that whiff of Holliday, at least he's got an ERA now.

has al used the " anything we get from kozma is a plus because he is playing for his glove" line yet?

Even with Miami picking up $4M/year both years, what made the D'Backs think trading for Bell was a good idea?

Yeah, I just looked it up. Bell is owed $10M this year and in 2014. Miami pays $4M both years and Arizona is paying the rest.

If I had to guess, I'd say Loria isn't paying him a dime.
To answer your original question sincerely, both starters pitched well. Garcia left a fastball up to Montero that he buggy-whipped over the fence in left for Arizona's run. Cahill was almost as good. Carpenter doubled and scored on consecutive groundouts, and then Holliday golfed a 9-iron over the fence on a pitch that probably would have been in the dirt if he hadn't made contact.

I guess this means Mujica has the bottom of the seventh ....
