Re: 4/12 Gamecrap

That was as impressive a start from a Cardinals' pitcher since Chris Carpenter circa 2005.

I like it. That's why you're the writer.

My thought process was actually "What would Windy do here? ..."

No doubt. Miller was on cruise control.

Miller- "Yadi called a good game. I didn't shake him one time."

We knew that Shelby. Yadi would have kicked your ass if you had tried.

Isringhausen got the save, but only after bringing the tying run to the plate.

Re: 4/12 Gamecrap

I know AP isn't a big fan of Lance Lynn, and I know Westbrook looked great Wednesday, but how much fun might 2014 be if the rotation is Wainwright, Garcia, Miller, Lynn and Wacha?

LOL. Probably a wise move, deferring to the guy who's wearing a couple of World Series rings.

Either Horton or Hrabosky were saying tonight Wacha throws a 100 mph fastball. Is that true? I thought he was more of a control guy.

He throws hard, but if he's topping out at 100 that's news to me.

I think Wacha is more like Miller. He probably tops out in the 93-94 range, especially as a starter.

Big night for TK's fantasy team which has moved into first place.

Between Josh Hamilton's slump, David Price doing a dead-on impersonation of Jeremy Bonderman thus far and Joey Votto's metamorphosis into James Loney, I'm mired so far in last place I can't even see.

"Jeremy Bonderman"

A name I haven't heard in forever.

Re: 4/12 Gamecrap

I'm sitting about in the middle of the standings, but my goal for April was simply to not get buried. Jeter was a holdover from last season, and I got good deals on Teixiera and Headley because of their injuries. Like Artie, I'm enduring the Hamilton slump, but I think my biggest concern is going to be my closers. I went cheap and ended up with Hanrahan and Balfour. Balfour hasn't had many save opportunities despite Oakland's record and Hanrahan has been brutal and it will probably be a matter of time before he loses that job. But when my team gets healthy, I like the players I ended up with.

You're better off than I am. I have 16 points. I'm dead last in eight of 10 categories. Keep in mind, I won this league last year. And I led wire-to-wire.

Cunto just left the game with an injury. Could be a recurrence of the strained vagina he suffered during last year's playoffs.

As much as it would affect my fantasy team, I wouldn't feel that terrible if Cueto had to miss the season.  I'd have to dig for a starter, but I was already in decent shape for a 14 team league.  My other starters are Bumgarner, Latos, Scherzer, Kuroda and Dempster.

And Hamilton homered last night, so we got that going for us.

Re: 4/12 Gamecrap

Day 3 of me occupying first place. And I might be adding Lance Berkman to my lineup.

Does the waiver wire priority work in fantasy baseball the same as football?

Yes. It starts as the reverse of the draft order, and once you make a successful waiver claim, you go back to the end of the queue.

The initial reports were it was tightness in his triceps, but I read today Cunto made be headed to the DL with a lat injury.

He went on the DL today.  I've been reading a lot about the kid the Reds are expected to call up to take Cueto's spot in the rotation.  Tony Cingrani.  His minor league numbers are just absurd.  In 211 minor league innings, he's got an ERA of 1.62, a WHIP of 0.93 and 278 Ks while walking only 60.  the waiver wire for starting pitchers is pretty darn thin.  I'm liable just to pick up this kid and take a chance that he can fool people for a few weeks.

Naturally, Dempster pitched outstanding today only to have his bullpen cough up the lead.  7 IP, 2 H, 10 K and a no-decision.  Fucking Sawx.
