Tonight was one of those nights where disaster seemed inevitable. The classic moment was with 1st and 3rd and 1 out, one of the Pirates hit a comebacker to Westbrook who threw it right over the bag while Kozma and Carpenter stared at each other. It would have been worse, but Robinson was backing up the play and got the runner at 3rd.

No makeup date was announced although, according to a new rule, the game has to be made up on the Cardinals' next time in here. That will be July 29-Aug. 1 for a four-game series which will become a five-gamer.

Brennadork has added to his repertoire. He now yells "SEE YA LATER!!!" every time Chapman strikes someone out. I haven't heard that since Little League. Seriously.

I think he was still doing Diamondbacks' games at that point, so his hatred of the Cardinals wasn't as rooted as it is now. It's not that he shouts at an ear-splitting decibel level, or that he points out the most obvious things like they're special, or the plethora of mistakes he makes and/or inaccurate utterances, or the inappropriate and anvil-headed commentary about current events. It's like his primary intent is to make Reds' fans feel good about watching the Reds. 
As bad as the Brennaman/Welsh combination is, the Brennaman/Brantley duo is worse. It's the closest thing to listening to Vince McMahon and Bruno Sammartino calling wrestling matches in the old WWF days.
