Lynn is on a pace to throw 189 pitches in nine innings ...

There Phillies' announcers are still bitching about Jerry Layne from two years ago.

I remember when the Cardinals couldn't hit any left-handed starter. Now they're 4 outs away from beating Hamels and Lee in the same series.

I didn't get a chance to really focus on last night's game, but my prediction for what happens at the deadline: the Cardinals acquire a starter and righthanded reliever and move Lynn to the bullpen for closing duties.
Speaking of Ty Wigginton, I'm not sure paying someone $5 million to act as a hitting coach and confidence booster is the best use of resources. At some point I think they're going to cut bait on him.

His numbers right now look largely identical to what he did in Memphis last year, but there are so many fuzzy memories surrounding what he did in September and October that I think people (read: management) will overlook it.
He bludgeoned the ball for the first week of the season and since then he's hit .194. Where he's at today (.230/.260/.350) is probably his true talent level.
