MLB.com clocked one of Kelly's pitches to Rendon at 99 mph. Really?
FSMW had the same thing.
Rosenthal absolutely dominated LaRoche and Desmond. That was nasty.

Mujica is brass staples applied with a staple gun.

Very impressive sweep.
A 6-3 swing through Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Washington is no easy task.

No, especially when you consider they were 1-hit by Burnett and then had to face Hamels, Halladay, Lee and Strasburg.

Exactly.
I think they have officially found their closer. We can worry about why Mujica isn't throwing anything other than splitters when he starts getting hit.

I know Gio didn't pitch for the Nashnils. but I thought they'd be lucky to get the Wainwright game in this series.
Now get out of town and hope Warshington wakes up just in time for TTTIB to arrive.

I can't speak for how lucky the Cardinals were in today's game, but listening to the Nashnils' radio broadcasters on the way home on the XM, you got the impression for the last three days every blooper fell in for the Cardinals, and the Nashnils were hitting nothing but line drives thst happened to be caught.
And Honus is going to be PE#1 in Warshington for awhile. When he came up for his fourth AB, the play-by-play guy said: "Kozma is 0-for-3 so far today ... Thank god."

Well, they got extremely lucky with that inning off Strasburg, but Miller and Waino were dominant, and they squandered their chance against Garcia/Kelly. They weren't unlucky; Cardinals pitchers were just really, really good.

Strauss just wondered aloud what the Cardinals will do if Mujica hits a bump. If they aren't a complete group of dunces they'll let him ride through it rather than overreact. Seems pretty simple.

There are other things to worry about right now than whether Mujica will melt down, but at some point the bullpen is going to have to be addressed. Right now, they're relying on the starters to go at least seven innings, and that's eventually going to catch up to them.

I'm still betting that the Cardinals acquire a starter and move Lynn to the bullpen against his wishes.
That or they pony up for Mike Adams.
ETA: There's also reason to believe that Rosenthal and Kelly get sorted out. They are still developing and are only going to get better.
Wacha and Martinez might also figure into the plans at some point.

i thought the first inning was luck. Carp not getting thrown out at second and whoever that was safe because the throw pulled the second baseman off the bag. The cardinals should feel lucky the nationa,s made bad plays. Idk what the nationals have to bitch about. It was there fault and the difference in the game.
