Re: Maness Called Up

Not sure how this helps.  They are just replacing a young guy with a young guy unless they send salas down.  Adding someone to a bullpen that has never pitched in the majors and expecting it to make it more stable isnt normally going to work.  They need to trade for dotelish player.  That is what they need.

I figured it was kelly or rosenthal.  Tells you how bad the pen is when someone is called up and nobody is injuried.  Trying to guess which guys is doijg the worst in this bullpen couldmbe the greatest debate since mulder/haren.  Then again, boggs has reached a new level of suckyness.

Re: Maness Called Up

Hey, at least they recognize they have to do something. I think yesterday's fisaco put the bullpen's ERA over 6.00. That's not bad. It's awful. Beyond awful.

Hey, it's only 5.93. Please don't shortchange them like that.

Re: Maness Called Up

Motte is long tossing.  Idk how he comes back from his injury without tj.  It would be huge tho.  Adding a closer and pushing everyome else back into lesser roles would help.  I have a feelimg mottes arm is going to snap tho.

He doesn't. You don't tear a ligament in your elbow and have it magically heal. He needs to have the surgery.

Re: Maness Called Up

"The righty is known as an unrelenting strike thrower."

I hope that's the case, but I've seen many a minor leaguer get the call and quickly forget how to throw a strike.

Re: Maness Called Up

So why did they call maness up.  Is it kind of along the same lines as curtis?  A player they are not projecting to be an impacg major leaguer.  Just at the stat line there are several guys in memphis off to a great start.

Sanchez would have made the most since to call up, imo.  5.2 inning and no era.  Only one walk allowed.  At 5.2 innings i am wondering why he isnt getting more work.

Gast is doing well.  5 starts, no era, 29so to 7 walks, 29.2 innings.

Wacha is also doing well but i would think he could be called up till he earned his lumps.  4 starts, 23innings, 1.96 era.

Re: Maness Called Up

Well scrabble is useless as well.  Only one lefty in the pen.  Gastis a left and so is tyler lyons.  Both are doing well. Still i teresting to me why they went with who they did.

Maness was the organization's pitcher of the year last year, so there's probably a bit of a reward factor at work.

Sounds like part of Scrabble's demotion was punishment for not taking suggestions from the coaching staff.

What were the suggestions? Throw strikes? Get guys out? Stop being an asshole?

Re: Maness Called Up

Tlr would have never went without a second lefty.  Maybe never is to strong but not at this point.

I'd go with never. I guess they would have called up Gast, except he started yesterday.
