Day game?

Yep.

Crap. I'm going to have to spend three hours this afternoon pretending I'm working.

Boy, Holliday is just not graceful out there.

Why would an adult allow other people to call him "Corky?"

Pretty good Suppan impersonation Lynn is doing today.

Attaboy, Carlos.
Did anyone hear about this book? It's about the Cardinals and how deeply religious a few players on the team are.

Is it me, or do the Cardinals' starters always seem to have higher pitch counts than their opponents' starters though the same number of innings?
Offline
Interesting decision to send keep Lynn in the game.

No, that's been my impression as well.

Another series win against TTTIB.

Lance Lynn, the first NL pitcher to 5 wins.
He's on pace to win 30, although that may not be sustainable.

I almost hit a guardrail when Phillips hit a homer to lead off the ninth and then nearly drove off a bridge when Davilio booted Bruce's grounder, but then Mujica remembered he's nails.

The irony being he has the highest ERA on the team among the starters. I guess Max has been right all along and wins is a random statistic.

I could've swore I heard yesterday several times that the Cardinals were off today.

They open a 4-gamer with the Brewers tonight.
The schedule in May is odd. They play four in Milwaukee, have an off-day, play two in Chicago, and have another off-day next Thursday. Then they only have one off-day between May 10 and June 9.
There's a killer trip in the middle. They have a weekend series in Los Angeles, and then they have to fly to Kansas City for an afternoon game on Memorial Day against the Royals.

The schedule is ridiculous. A two-game series at Kansas City, then to St. Louis for another two-game series. Back-to-back. With no day off between.

I don't know whose idea it was to bring back the 2-game series. They have another one in Houston at the end of June with a day off before and a day off after. Because you really need a day to prepare for the Asstros, and then another day to decompress.

I wasn't sure of the spelling, but I'm glad someone got the reference .. and threw in Lynn McGlothen for bonus points!

I got your back where old-guy stuff's concerned, Artie! Although, without checking, putting McGlothen and Davalillo on the same team might be an anachronism.
Davalillo was a heck of a pure hitter, and one of two Bob Prince pronunciation fiascoes I can remember involved him. Prince tried very hard to use legitimate ethnic pronunciations of names and seemed to always end up apologizing when someone challenged him. Happened with "Dava-lee-chio" and I believe with "Park Zharree". The latter sounds right and the grief Bob got could have come from Anglo-Canadians not fond of anything Francoise.
<edit> Leaving in the Park Jarry reference for fun, but I just remembered that Prince's sin was in how he pronounced "Mone-ray-ALL".

It's too bad Prince was on fumes by the time he finally got his national gig. Monday Night Baseball was a joke. ABC thought they could replicate Monday Night Football with baseball, and you just can't.
I think Jarry Park is a tennis stadium or something now. As bad as it was, it was more convenient and a better place to watch a baseball game than the Big O.
