Holliday hit a home run that went 458-feet. Freese and Craig were lacing line drives off him. He was not that sharp.
I was encouraged by the swings Freese took Thursday night. He looked lost before MM sat him down for a couple of days.

Watching Stanford/Arizona State on ESPNU now. Mark Appel is the best pitcher I've seen in the Pac 10/12 since Lincecum.

It's too bad the Cardinals couldn't have talked Austin Wilson out of going to Stanford. He's a beast.

Too bad he's probably going to end up an Astro or a Cub.
Hopefully the former. Don't count out the Marlins. They really, really suck.

Yeah. Houston #1. Cubs #2.
Speaking of the Marlins, they definitely suck and Loria's slime, but those guys he traded to Toronto aren't exactly leading that franchise to the promised land.

Reyes and Johnson are both hurt, and Buehrle has been pretty bad.
I can't speak for the high school prospects, but the only college pitcher that's supposed to be in Appel's class is Stanek from Arkansas.
A kid to keep your eye on is Ryan Kellogg. Granted, I'm insanely biased toward ASU guys, but he threw a no-hitter against Oregon State earlier this year and he's 10-0. He's a freshman, so he's not the Friday night starter and hasn't had to match up with the likes of Appel, Wade and Plutko, but he's going to be cashing some big checks someday.

I went to bed before the end of Rockies-Rays. If we start the playoffs today the Cardinals have HFA.
