5/22 GC

I had several naming options for my son. "Burch" was not one of them.

Re: 5/22 GC

So who would have bet on Lyons making his first career PA before he threw his first pitch?

Jedd Gyorko's favorite movie is Shawshank Redemption, his favorite food is steak (cooked medium) and his favorite singer is someone named Brad Paisley. See what you guys are missing by not getting the Padres' feed.

Burch may be halfway to Tucson by the time this game ends.

And his dislikes are rainy days, rude people and smoking.
(Not really. I was having a whimsical Playmate of the Month data sheet flashback.)

Sounds like my kind of guy.

Re: 5/22 GC

Horton just mentioned that Randy Flores was at the ballpark last night.

I wonder if he works as an usher or a beer vendor.

Re: 5/22 GC

Geez-us. When Holliday hits a ball on the screws he hits it really, really hard.

Re: 5/22 GC

For anyone interested, Goold has an article in today's P-D that does a really nice job of explaining the service time clock, "super 2s," options, etc...  It's a pretty informative piece.

He's Tyler Johnson's parole officer.

Say one thing for Kozma: If he gets the ball in his glove and he's upright, it's an out. Almost every throw is right at Craig's chest.

One of the strangest careers ever? He was unhittable for about six weeks, then he got weird and he was gone for good.

Johnson was left handed. He was always weird.

Good recovery by the kid. Gyorko hit that ball a ton, but all it did was make it 5-1. Three ground ball outs later and Lyons is thru 7.

Re: 5/22 GC

Nice to see Wigginton get his licks in. NOT. I figured Lyons would go eight.

His pitch count was still pretty low and he was still effective. Nice effort. Lot of harmless groundouts.

Oh yeah? I'll bet his favorite singer isn't Bill Paisley.

Re: 5/22 GC

Always amazes me how closers can't pitch effectively in non-save situations.

I can't say for sure that I've driven 89 mph.
