Re: 5/24 GC

We're three days from Memorial Day and the two corner positions on the infield have three home runs between them. And one of them is batting clean-up.

They're pacing themselves?
Freese needs to pick it up, but if Craig continues to be in the top 10 in RBI, I'm not going to fuss about his lack of home runs.

Re: 5/24 GC

When Feldman hit a 2-run homer, I was kind of optimistic about the Cubs' chances tonight, but then I remembered Feldman also had to pitch.

Re: 5/24 GC

Anibal Sanchez took a no-hitter into the ninth and the first I heard about it was from Vin Scully because I've been watching the Reds/Cubs game and the Reds' broadcasters know their audience doesn't give a shit.

It's working out for now, but I'd like for the Cardinals to occassionally put one over the fence instead of stringing a bunch of singles together.

Nice. Beltran and Holliday smoke balls right at guys. Crawford bloops one in.

and gets thrown out stealing by 8 feet thanks to a nice pick by Kozma.

I'd like to see what kind of jump Crawford got. That was embarrassing.

Re: 5/24 GC

I know it's early, but Lynn is a lot more efficient tonight. Only 22 pitches thru 2 innings.

Re: 5/24 GC

The hell was that? How did the Dodgers just coast enough to let Beltran score from first?

That was the second thing I thought, after I was glad the Cardinals scored.

Re: 5/24 GC

If Craig wants to finish the season with 8 HR, 50 doubles and 130 RBI, I'm ok with it.

Crawford fumbled it a bit at the wall, but Kemp was shading Kemp way into the gap in right-center, for whatever reason. The ball was clearly going to end up in the gap.

It was a fastball center cut and Gonzalez didn't do anything to protect the runner. My impression of Gonzo so far is he'd rather be back in San Diego playing in front of 10,000 people who won't give a shit if he tells the press losing a baseball game is God's will.

Agreed on Gonzalez. I used to feel bad for the guy when it seemed he was stuck in SD. But ever since he was traded, he doesn't seem like a guy who will play for many winning teams.

Sorry, TK. I think I interpreted one of your posts like you we're working and not watching. These 10 p.m. starts provide too much pre-game drinking time.

Great start for Lynn. Cardinals desperately need to win tonight and tomorrow.

Absent the steroid compoment, he's kind of his generation's Rafael Palmeiro. He's accumulated some  impressive numbers, but nothing he's ever done has really mattered.

Re: 5/24 GC

On one hand, I'm sure Skip Schumaker is happy just to have a major league job, on the other hand being around a bunch of overpaid underachievers has to be driving him crazy.

If Tony La Russa ever lands a GM job Schumaker will be one of them.

Against Miller. It's rare I actually look forward to a baseball game, but that should be fun. Miller strikes me as the kind of guy who could get pumped for a game like that.
