Day-night double header.
Scoreless thru 2

Cain is throwing a lot of pitches over the middle of the plate. He looks really hittable today. Go get 'em boys.

Holliday looks lost. Hope they give him a rest in Game 2

Allen Craig is an RBI machine.

Wow, they're beatin the piss out of Cain. SF is going to get into their bullpen way early. Miller's going to make 2 outs this inning.
Looks like Cain is going to take one for the team and give them 6-7 innings regardless.

Anyone want to take a stab at why a good pitcher like Matt Cain has an ERA of about 7.00 against the Cardinals?

Good call.

It would be nice if they could get 7 innings out of Miller. Hopefully avoid using more than 2 pitchers for this game.

Might be a good opportunity for Boggs to pitch a couple of innings and gain some confidence in a non-stress situation.

The good news for today (at least for us) is it appears the shingles in our yard came from someone else's roof.

Going to be tough to do from Memphis. He was sent down yesterday.

I know. I was being ironical.

Shingles?? Was it that bad?
Edit: I saw your post on the 5/31 GC

Take away one bad inning, and Cain is pitching pretty well.
Of course, you could have said 150 years ago that if you take away Pickett's Charge, Gettysburg was a sucessful battle for the Confederacy.

He's saving their bullpen. Miller is giving the Cardinals exactly what they needed.

That's the between games entertainment.

This one may not be over yet, with Victor "No Lead Is Safe" Marte coming in.

Nice start by Marte, inducing the routine 390 foot flyout.

Danny Graves is doing color commentary for the Wichita State/Arkansas game on ESPNU. He was my favorite closer. Whenever he'd come in to pitch against the Cardinals, it usually meant a comeback win.

He used to be Matheny's go-to guy. Shudder.

I don't understand golf analogies. What's a 3-wood? Is it worse than a 9-iron?

Cain has given up 16 runs in nine innings against the Cardinals, which only makes me more bitter about Game Seven.

Tough to complain about an 8-0 victory over one of the top 10-15 starters in baseball. Shame it didn't extend their winning streak to 6 games, but that's a nice recovery from Thursday's debacle.
Now let's hope Wainwright can get Game 2. Bumgarner's been hittable lately.

But you're missing the point TK. If Cain had gone 1-2-3 in the 3rd, he'd have had a perfect game thru 6 (credit to Mike Shannon).
Kidding aside, it is weird how they've beaten the crap out of Cain in 2 innings, but been unable to touch him in the others.
