Re: 6/4 GC

So glad Matheny used Rosenthal and Muiica yesterday. Maybe Keith Butler can close tomorrow.

Matheny just can't run a bullpen. I think he felt he had to get both of them in there yesterday since they hadn't thrown since last Wednesday.

Allen Craig really needs to end this game.

Have the Cardinals won in extra innings since the World Series?

Re: 6/4 GC

Swung at ball four. Nice going, Craig.

0-3 this season and 6-12 last year. They haven't had a winning record in extra innings since 2007.

Re: 6/4 GC

Who'd be favored in a pie-eating contest? Eric Hinske or Victor Marte?

It's vital to nail down those 7-1 wins. Rosenthal went two innings tonight, which means he won't be available until Friday.

Horton: "The Cardinals still have Choate, Butler and Marte ..."

So Choate and Butler, really.

Re: 6/4 GC

Collmenter is the one who threw five magical extra innings back in April. I don't like the Cardinals odds in this one.

Re: 6/4 GC

I've been saying for three years this guy reminds me of a mechanical arm at the batting cages and Horton finally corroborates it.

Re: 6/4 GC

How does a team become so futile? Craig swings at ball four that was an inch off the ground. Kozma checks swings at the first pitch he sees.

Four-hit game for Willie frigging Bloomquist.

And now Mujica starts inning #2.

Willie Friggin' Bloomquist had a career .394 average in college. He can hit. Just not with a wood bat.

Matheny is all in on this one, so he'd better win it. Tomorrow's game looks bleak.

How the hell are they consistently late on this pus Collmenter's throwing?

Yeah.
In response to the subsequent posts, I have no idea why the Cardinals can't hit a guy who throws an 89 mph fastball that's straight as a string. There used to be a 900-year-old guy in my old fart league who threw like him. We even called him the pitching machine. And we always struggled with him, mostly because everyone went up trying to hit 500-foot home runs. He always gave up a couple of dingers, but they never hurt too much because he never walked anyone.
