The Yankees only had to give up a Class A prospect and the Cubs are paying 75% of what's left on his contract.
I can't see how this is a bad deal for the Yankees. Soriano still has some power, and their lineup otherwise sucks.
More importantly, I hope this works out well for my fantasy team.

Great deal for the yanks. Other then clearing room for a younger player the cubs gain basicly nothing
