Things I liked:
Yadi
Carpenter
Yadi
Beltran
Yadi
Allen Craig
Yadi
Kozma's defense
Waino becoming Waino again
Nine wins from Miller
Yadi
Matt Adams
Yadi
Mujica/Rosenthal/Seigrist/Maness/Choate
Things that concern me:
TTTIB
Yadi wearing down
Beltran wearing down
Kozma's lack offense
Miller throwing too many pitches/innings
Holliday's drop in production
Things that don't concern me as much as they probably should:
Mujica
Reversion to the mean with RISP
Jay's drop in production
Westbrook
Freese morphing into Scott Cooper
Fifth starter
The Pirates

Where does "Matheny's occasional brain farts" fall on this list? Under "Things that concern me more than they probably should"?

I think they need to address the ss situation and find another starter. Those are the two things i see this team needing right now. Fix those issues and this team is solid, imo.

I think so. It doesn't get much worse than the way he bungled the 8th inning last night. But I tend to forget sometimes that he's still in his second year of managing, and for about a decade and a half we had gotten used to a manager who ended up with more wins than anyone except a guy who wouldn't fire himself because he owned the team.

I think they might be able to get away with Kozma if Jay would start hitting. You can carry a light-hitting shortstop or a light-hitting centerfielder, but you can't carry both.
I'm less inclined to go after a starter, unless they can get someone better than Kelly who's cheap. As much as we dismiss Kelly, he's given up one run or less in three of his four starts since he joined the rotation. Who are they going to go after? Joe Saunders? Erik Bedard? Jason Marquis?

Anyone else feel weird with absolutely no baseball being played? I keep wanting to check box scores to see how my fantasy team is doing.

Something to tide you over while you're pining for baseball. I'm guessing she's a free agent in most fantasy leagues:

Until I saw a commercial for a neti pot, I thought the term "nasal douche" was a reference to Karl Rove.

Anybody know what happened to Gast? Last news I've found was this from May 28th:
KANSAS CITY -- The Cardinals' medical team diagnosed left-hander John Gast with a left lat strain Monday, a day after the club placed him on the 15-day disabled list.
"The timetable is to be determined, but the good news is that it's not the shoulder or the elbow," general manager John Mozeliak said. "Hopefully, it's something that won't take too long. With a lat, it can be up to a month or a month and a half. We'll see."
Gast was 2-0 with 5.11 ERA over three starts before the injury, throwing 12 1/3 innings.

The last I saw was in a chat from Derrick Goold. Goold pointed out that Gast has the same injury that kept Brad Penny out for the remainder of the season in 2011.

So it was a spinal injury?

Wasn't Penny's problem that his ambition was tragically crushed between an inflated wallet and a permanent erection?

Once you've nailed Alyssa Milano, what else is left to do?
