Los Angeles has won 30 of 37 and 14 straight on the road if they finish off Chicago.

Duran Duran references? I thought we were above such shenanigans.

Hanley just left the game with an apparent right shoulder injury after crashing into the brick wall along the third base stands while chasing a foul ball.

There weren't a lot of people left to entertain by that point. Most of the crowd had gone home to eat their cinnamon-imbrued chili.

I'm not buying this *injury* to the Aflac duck. I think they're trying to cover up the Gilbert Gottfried controversy by inventing a story line.

With a caveat I play in a keeper league, Starlin Castro in the fourth round might be my worst fantasy draft pick ever.

Sorry. Just a reflex.

I was hoping they'd extend it to 14 straight road wins. They're ready to crash now.

Verlander (1st), Fielder (2nd), Castro (4th), Upton (5th) and Prado (9th) are all on other teams. This season has been a disaster.

You're going to end up on double secret probation, mister.

Puig hurt his thumb the other day. Be nice to see him miss a couple of games, too.

All my wheeling and dealing has moved me from ninth to sixth, but I lost so much ground early in the season I'm not going to move much higher at this point.

Lookinglike this right now:
Waino v. Kershaw tomorrow
Kelly vs. Nolasco Tuesday
Miller vs. Ryu Wednesday
Westbrook vs. Capuano Thursday
Tomorrow's game is a 7:05 ET start, which indicates to me it's an ESPN game.

I've climbed into 2nd, but my team's going to take a hit when Nelson Cruz gets suspended--unless he opts to appeal. But I have to think it makes more sense for a pending free agent to take the punishment now rather than later.

I have him too, and I'm probably going to have to rely on the oft-injured and mercurial Michael Morse in his utility spot the rest of the way. From what I understand, MLB wants to start these suspensions before there are less than 50 games left in the season, so the guys who do get suspended can come back at the beginning of next season, and to get the suspensions out of the off-season news cycle. MLB's priorities not necessarily in that order.

This is the first time I've seriously played fantasy baseball and it's amazing how quickly things can slip away. There are many players I shuffled in but dealt out just as quick because I was so concerned with keeping pace.

Yeah, MLB would love to enter 2014 with only A-Rod still serving a suspension, but if Cruz decides to appeal rather than take MLB's deal, he'd be eligible to play during the suspension.
Since we don't carry any bench players, I'll have to go to the waiver wire. Last time I looked, the best player available was Nate Schierholz.

Not counting players on the DL, our highest-rated available player is ... Colby Rasmus.

I'm usually pretty patient, but I just couldn't wait around much longer because I was getting a fraction of the production I was getting in the past from some of my guys. Votto only seems to care about drawing walks these days so the BBTN and MLBTV talking heads will keep praising his plate discipline, and when one of the other managers in the league came after him hard, I held out for a bit and then happily swapped him. Then I traded Hamilton and Verlander, two other guys who I don't think will ever match the numbers they've put up in the past. Well, Hamilton might, but Verlander isn't ever going to be MVP of the league again. In two moves, I got younger, cheaper and better.

Descalso. The word "descalzo" means "barefoot" in Spanish.
